How long will he continue to play Test cricket?

Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq on TMS: "At the moment I can't say. Maybe a year, six months, I don't know. Everybody knows what I am as a captain, as a player - I always try to be more professional, and that's what my message is: do your best, be professional and give whatever you can to your country."

How does he feel about Pakistan players not playing in the IPL?

Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq on TMS: "Opportunities and more exposure can make you a better player, for sure. If all the other countries are having those opportunities and you're not, that will have an effect."

Robin Anthony: Many scores over 300. Two over 400. Is #CWC15 being played in India and not Aus? ICC killed cricket with homogenized pitches.

Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq on TMS: "When you can't play international cricket in front of your crowd, it really hurts you. I hope some day we can get back. The UAE is a bit different from Pakistan, having three good spinners has really helped us in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah."

But first, you can listen to our man Stephan Shemilt's interview with Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq - he talks about everything from taking over as skipper after the spot-fixing scandal, not being able to play in Pakistan, his bowlers being banned - and if you cast your mind back to 2007, is he the reason why the Indian Premier League began?

"339-6 doesn't look like the greatest bowling performance, but UAE's bowlers can take pride from the way they stuck to their task on a belting wicket with a short boundary. Still, you feel that total is way beyond them and Pakistan are on collision course for a final-day shootout with Ireland."

Pakistan batsman Ahmed Shehzad who top scored with 93: "I'm really happy to see the way myself and Haris Sohail got through those early overs and laid a foundation for the rest of the innings.

"We all know the importance of the early partnerships. You see other teams, their top four batsmen are laying a platform for the rest of the innings.

"You have to dig in to give yourself the chance, so I'm really happy with the way Haris and I played today."

Questions may have been asked about Pakistan's slowish start, but I'm sure they will feel they have batted themselves back into form. When they resume, it'll be over to their bowlers to see if they can give the net run-rate a welcome boost.

"Mission accomplished for Pakistan. They'll have been sent out at the start of the day to put on a score that UAE couldn't reach. They've still got the job to do with the ball, but they can be pretty pleased with 339-6."

  12. Pak 339-6published at 04:44 Greenwich Mean Time 4 March 2015

Afridi carves the last ball of the innings for two - he finishes with a nice little cameo of 21 from seven balls, and walks off with Wahab Riaz (who finishes with a strike rate of 600, having hit his only ball for six).

So, the UAE will need to score 340 to win. Anyone think they can?

Anything you can do, Wahab... Afridi launches Javed for a huge six over the covers off the first ball of the last over to pass the 8,000 mark and join Sanath Jayasuriya in the 8,000 run/300 wicket ODI club.

He smashes his first ball into the stand at wide mid-wicket - and is caught one-handed by a Pakistan fan in an orange shirt for another share of the sponsor's million dollars.
