"Just win, whether you field first or bat first. Tell yourself you are better than them and go and beat them. Win here and beat Afghanistan and suddenly you are in the quarter-finals. Then you face India, who you have beaten very recently.

"In any era you have to give a bit of thought to people on the opposition you are bowling to but I don't make too big a deal about it. Get your own game right. Practise your skills and get each individual playing to his best. If you start playing well it falls into place."

  3. Mortaza ready to 'trouble' Englandpublished at 03:20 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2015

Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza says his side must be at their best if they are to progress to the second round for only the second time since their World Cup debut in 1999.

"I am not thinking of the quarter-finals yet - the focus is to bat, bowl and field well so that we can trouble England," he said.

"We should just think about our cricket and not worry about what England have been doing."

Bangladesh will qualify for the last eight with victory today.

The Tigers have lost only one match in Pool A - a 92-run defeat by Sri Lanka, external - in Melbourne, and picked up a welcome and unexpected point when their match against Australia was rained off as Brisbane caught the tail end of Hurricane Marcia.

Bangladesh have won two of their last three ODIs against England, and were the victors in the last World Cup meeting between the sides, in Chittagong in 2011.

There are a few people doubting England's credentials after three drubbings. However, former spinner Graeme Swann believes the team can shut those critics up with a big display today.

"This is their chance to really put their foot on the opposition and stamp all over them," Swann told BBC Sport.

"If you're an England fan, this is the biggest game of this World Cup."

  9. Morgan wants more from bowlerspublished at 03:10 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2015

England skipper Eoin Morgan says his "exceptional " opening bowling partnership of James Anderson and Stuart Broad must start firing soon.

Broad and Anderson have taken only two wickets each in their four Pool A matches so far.

"It's a difficult one," Morgan said. "They are exceptional bowlers but have not been putting the ball consistently in the right areas and haven't been able to take early wickets."

Maybe we're being unkind to England - after all, they appear to be in the toughest group with Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka all looking pretty formidable. If they manage to beat Bangladesh and Afghanistan in their final two matches, then they should reach the quarter-finals. Then it's anyone's game. See... it's better to be glass half full sometimes.

"In the middle of the Adelaide Fringe Festival, England look to avoid a World Cup farce. Eoin Morgan and co would have been nervous when they looked out of the window this morning - rain in the air - but that's given way to lovely sunshine. At the start of the tournament, this ground was a jam-packed party for India v Pakistan. Today, it is half-full of fans, but bursting with English trepidation."

England captain Eoin Morgan, speaking at the toss: "The pitch looks really good, it's fresh but it's sticky so it might swing a little bit. It's humid so hopefully we can make some early inroads. There is always pressure, so you prepare for games like this. It's simple: win these two games and we go through."

So, what's happened at the toss? Well, England won it and will bowl first. England have made two changes: Alex Hales and Chris Jordan replace Gary Ballance and Steven Finn.

Yep, it's time to stop talking about "executing plans", "skill-sets" and "doing the basics right". England have to do their talking on the pitch or they'll be heading home from the World Cup.

Let's put this simply: England must beat Bangladesh today or it's curtains.

Australia has proven to be the graveyard of many a travelling Englishman. If the sun, snakes, sharks and spiders don't get you, the cricketers generally do.

Just 12 months after that chastening Ashes tonking, England are facing humiliation down under again. Lose against Bangladesh and they will achieve what was thought to be the impossible: they'll be eliminated from the World Cup via a format which is so heavily stacked in their favour, nobody thought it was possible for them not to qualify. Only England.
