  1. SL 135-1 (Johnson 1-35 off 4 overs)published at 09:16 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

Australia were 86-2 after 20 overs, so I think we're fully entitled to say Sri Lanka are well on top. In fact, I'd go as far as to say this game is as good as won. You may as well switch off now.

Mitchell Johnson gets another go, having been smashed out of the attack by Dilshan with six fours off an over earlier on. The required run rate has breached eight.

  4. SL 133-1 (need 244 off 30 overs)published at 09:11 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

The rubber-wristed Dilshan can't quite get Faulkner away in that over, which costs only two. Australia tightening the net a little here. I sense something might be coming...

Ger Siggins: That's a remarkable 50 by Dilshan - only 7 fours, considering 6 of them came off one over from Johnson!

  6. SL 131-1 (target 377)published at 09:08 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

Maxwell continues. And so do Sri Lanka. The offie offers width and Dilshan cuts for four behind point.

  7. Sangakkara's new helmetpublished at 09:06 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

    Joe Wilson
    BBC News sports correspondent

"Kumar Sangakkara is the first player to wear a new helmet safety feature, designed in the wake of Phillip Hughes' death.

"The innovation, you may recall, was revealed in a BBC exclusive last month. It's a design by Masuri, they call it a 'Stemguard'.

"It is basically made of foam and a plastic compound which attaches to the helmet grille and protects the neck - the area where Hughes was fatally struck."

  8. SL 123-1 (required run rate: 7.93)published at 09:05 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

James Faulkner, the fourth of Australia's four left-armers, gets a go. Four singles off the over as a panting Dilshan scampers singles.

    Geoff Lawson
Ex-Australia fast bowler on BBC Test Match Special

"A third of the way through and Sri Lanka have a third of the runs needed - that's a great position to be in if you are chasing. The fielding captain now needs to be in Twenty 20 mode, and change the bowling more regularly so that the batsmen don't get a long look at each bowler and be able to line them up."

  10. Drinks breakpublished at 08:58 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

Kumar Sangakkara is now the leading run scorer in this World Cup, overtaking South Africa skipper AB de Villiers's tally of 318.

Fed up with nudging and nurdling, he larrups Doherty over mid-wicket for a one-bounce four, then clears mid-off with a drive for his seventh boundary. He has 62, Dilshan 53, and the partnership is worth 114. Thirsty? It's drinks.

  11. 50 for Dilshanpublished at 08:54 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

Dilshan joins the 50 club. Just the 41 balls, and seven fours in succession. He and Sangakkara are both happy to milk the singles off that Maxwell over - until Sangakkara aims a horrid swipe and connects only with thin air. Please, Kumar.

  12. 50 for Sangakkarapublished at 08:52 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

And that's a 45-ball half-century for Sangakkara, who beats Dilshan to the mark. despite his partner's savage 24-run over at Mitchell Johnson's expense. And Sanga's barely played a shot in anger.

  13. Appeal - not outpublished at 08:50 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

Now that was a waste of electricity. Sangakkara plays and misses at Doherty, wicketkeeper Brad Haddin whips off the bails and the TV umpire is needed to decide that that was never out in a million years.

  14. 14,000 ODI runs for Sangakkarapublished at 08:48 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

A great moment for Sangakkara, the old master. He sweeps Maxwell fine for a couple to go to 14,000 ODI runs - a tally second only to the great Sachin Tendulkar (18,426, for what it's worth). He marks the milestone with a fist bump and a four either side of the wicket. Wonderful stuff.

  15. Dilshan dropped on 46published at 08:45 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

A life for Dilshan. Without a boundary since the seventh over, Dilshan swipes at Doherty - and Clarke, running back from short mid-wicket, can't cling on to a lunging effort over his shoulder just outside the fielding circle. Not often you see Clarke spill them.

Duncan Garrett: Any English fan's highlight of the CWC so far. Johnson going for 6 fours off an over. Not much else to cheer mind you.

  17. SL 81-1 (Dilshan 44, Sangakkara 35)published at 08:41 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

And here's the man of the moment. Michael Clarke tosses the ball to centurion Glenn Maxwell - or, more accurately, umpire Gould takes it out of his pocket and gives it the off-spinner, which is rather less prosaic. Five off the over. Hashtag steady.

  19. SL 76-1 (target 377)published at 08:38 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2015

A score of 69-1 after 10 overs persuades Australia to turn to spin, in the form of slow left-armer Xavier Doherty. The fleet-footed Sangakkara drives him for a couple through cover then collects two more courtesy of a deft leg glance.
