"Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq is still talking to the umpires - he is not happy with the decision. But looking at the television replays it did flick Joyce's pad. Technology helps Ireland."

  3. Umpire reviewpublished at 04:21 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2015

Has Ed Joyce got a feather behind? Umpire says no, but we're going upstairs...

Wild cheers among the Pakistan fans as Snicko shows a noise, but is that bat on pad? There looks to be daylight between bat and ball, and the third umpire agrees with the on-field decision. Not out, and Pakistan have lost their review.

  4. Ire 51-1published at 04:20 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2015

Pakistan didn't play a specialist wicket-keeper for the first few matches of this tournament, but Sarfraz Ahmed shows the value of a good gloveman with a superb leaping stop to haul in a wild bouncer from Wahab. Saved four there. The rest of the the over is tidy enough, just three singles.

  5. West Indies v UAE updatepublished at 04:16 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2015

Cruise control for the Windies now. They need only nine runs from 132 balls with Carter and Ramdin at the crease and six wickets in hand.

"Honours are even so far. Will Porterfield said Ireland wanted to set a stable platform and they're playing in that ilk. The run rate is four and the two left handers are doing their best to set things up for hitting out later on.

"Ireland have started well, but escaped there with that dropped catch. Shehzad was almost wrongfooted - like a football keeper after a shot gets deflected off a defender."

  8. Ire 47-1 (run rate 4.7)published at 04:16 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2015

Pakistan have had a bit of success bowling back of a length in this tournament, but I think they've just fallen a little short in this opening powerplay. Rahat gets a grip on the run rate with a tidy over, costing him just one.

  9. Ire 46-1published at 04:12 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2015

Left-arm seam from both ends as Wahab Riaz enters the attack. He's been very good so far in the tournament, but that's a shoddy start, an ugly wide.

Porterfield continues to motor, easing one into the covers that gives Sohail a long chase. He can't reel it in, much to Wahab's chagrin. And the Irish skipper follows that with an even better shot, slapping Wahab wide of point for another four. Ireland chugging along nicely here.

  11. Joyce dropped on 5published at 04:07 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2015

Left-armer Rahat Ali, who has five wickets so far at this World Cup, is summoned into the attack. And he almost strikes immediately! Joyce flays him uppishly backward of square and Ahmed Shehzad should snag it at point, but it almost seems to wrong-foot him and he can't hang on. That could be a big moment.

Porterfield is looking superb out there, picking up length brilliantly, and when Rahat drops short he bludgeons him over midwicket for an imperious four.

  12. Sixpublished at 04:02 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2015

Umar Akmal always looks faintly ghostly with a light layer of zinc suncream all over his face. Unfortunately for Ireland, he's all too alive in the covers, and he makes another good stop to prevent a Porterfield single.

There's not stopping that though! Sohail drops fractionally short, Porterfield is on it in a flash and pulls it majestically for six into the stands at square leg. What a shot.

"It's a sparse crowd, but a noisy one. When Paul Stirling was sent on his way, there was an explosion of sound from a section of Pakistan supporters, all cheers, flags and bells. The Irish, though, are fighting back in the vocal stakes. There's a chap below the TMS box whose voice is carrying across the ground."

  14. Ire 22-1 (run rate 3.7)published at 03:58 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2015

Ireland are just struggling to penetrate the infield here - this time it's Ahmed Shehzad who frustrates the batsmen with a sprawling stop at point. Porterfield releases the pressure valve with two clipped into the leg side, and then the best possible finish to the over with a short-arm pull for four. Well, not quite the best possible finish to the over, but let's not be greedy, hey?

  15. West Indies v UAE updatepublished at 03:56 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2015

"The pace of scoring has slowed in Napier but Jonathan Carter and Denesh Ramdin are nudging the Windies towards their 176 target. Remember the Windies must get there in 36.2 overs or less to book a quarter-final spot, unless there's a tie or no-result between Ireland and Pakistan."

  17. Ire 16-1published at 03:53 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2015

Fielding is usually a bellwether for Pakistan and so far the signs are good - Umar Akmal makes an agile stop in the covers, then Wahab Riaz keeps Porterfield to one with a good throw from long leg. Pakistan applying the squeeze after that early breakthrough.

Opta:, external Paul Stirling was out caught in all five of his previous #CWC15 innings. That was his third LBW in 55 ODI dismissals.

"I think that was probably clipping leg stump. Stirling gets his leg over, his head falls over, he tried to hit that too square. I think he fancied that short boundary and tried to flick towards it. You don't want Pakistan to get their tails up - but they have."

  20. Ire 15-1 (Porterfield 7, Joyce 4)published at 03:49 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2015

Ed Joyce is the new man - he's been in good nick so far in this tournament and he's off the mark with a lusty square drive for four.
