  1. WI 97-3 (Brathwaite 39*, Chanderpaul 4*)published at 20:26 British Summer Time 14 April 2015

I suspect, considering the number of shirtless England fans around the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, the hotels and local shops around Antigua may be advised to stock up on after-sun lotion. Some of those people will be a shade of maroon-pink similar to the West Indies ODI kit by tonight... Tredwell is quickly through his over as usual, at the cost of a two through point from Brathwaite. The Kent man has figures of 6-2-7-0.

  3. WI 95-3 (35 overs)published at 20:23 British Summer Time 14 April 2015

Brathwaite resumes defensive duty against Broad - if England's post-tea plan was to bowl dry and starve the runs, it's working so far. A single off the last ball means Brathwaite's 37 has taken him 94 balls.

Simon Horswell: I love reading what the Broad-bashers have to say... it invariably brings him a wicket.

  5. WI 94-3 (Brathwaite 36*, Chanderpaul 4*)published at 20:20 British Summer Time 14 April 2015

Swanny on TMS wants Tredwell to offer Brathwaite a single in order to bowl at the new batsman (Ed Smith thinks his former team-mate Shaun Udal excelled at that) - and when the single arrives, Cook comes in at silly point himself while keeping a slip and a short leg for Chanderpaul. It's not convincing so far from the 40-year-old but he sees off the over unscathed.

"For England, this is a good time for Chanderpaul to come in. He doesn't start that well against spin, so England should keep Tredwell on for a few overs. This is where Alastair Cook has to be brave - he has to attack."

  7. WI 93-3published at 20:17 British Summer Time 14 April 2015

The floodlights are already on (despite it being 3.15pm local time and close to the Equator) as veteran left-hander Shivnarine Chanderpaul (known as "The Crab" for his unorthodox batting stance) scuttles out - and his first ball flies off an edge and would have been taken chest-high by a man at fourth slip - when there are only two slips and a gully in. What's more, it goes for four.

"Well bowled, Stuart Broad. It's very hard to drag Samuels out of his crease. It seemed slower and slightly fuller outside off stump. Beautiful bowling and a very good breakthrough for England."

Great ball from Broad - Marlon Samuels is drawn forward to prod at one outside off stump and is caught behind. Only two balls before, Samuels had tried a similar shot which angled the ball wide of the slips and brought him four through third man. Send for the Crab!

David Hall: Watching @StuartBroad8 bowl half trackers at 78mph is painful. The only bowling he wouldn't run away from is his own.

One slip (Chris Jordan) and a short leg (is that Bell, or Root?) for Tredwell, while Brathwaite, a thick gold chain hanging out of his shirt collar, is on the defensive. Maiden over. We have 35 more to be bowled today, and with Tredwell on, they should get them in.

Thomas Roper: Look at all bowlers cards, bar Stokes, all really good for flat pitch. Wickets needed but bowlers deserve more credit today.

Mark: Tredwell good honest pro & won let you down but last year couldn't get a game for Kent, chance missed to try a youngster.

"You've got be prepared to give it a bit of air and tease the West Indian batsmen, they're not great players of spin, especially defensively. You've got to use the breeze to get some drift."

Yep, it's Broad from the Sir Curtly Ambrose End - with one slip, and Ian Bell at a fairly straight silly mid-off position, where he may be in danger of colliding with Broad in his follow-through... Kraigg Brathwaite knocks a single, but a decent start for England after tea.

James McHale: Look at figures for kids taking up cricket since it disappeared from terrestrial telly.
