"You don't want to get to the summer having not had a look at Rashid. You might need two spinners during the Ashes. This is an opportunity to look at Rashid slightly under the radar. He has the ability to bowl one or two match-winning spells."
Now, is it just clearing a little? A hint of sunshine, covers moved to one side, umpires out on the middle. The players are back out too. Live text experience has taught me to avoid providing a weather forecast, so I'll stick to what I can see. It's brighter than it was, they'd be playing if it was a Saturday club game. Get 'em out there.
Louis Parry: Lyth has to be given the chance as does Rashid: brilliant seasons last year, too scared to pick form over experience.
Richard Oelmann: Trott is a top middle order batsman, but not an opener. We have established openers, so he should be fighting for the 3-4 slot.
There's a huge blue sheet covering the entire square, the tarpaulin now has puddles on it that are growing with every drop. There's not much sign of any fans inside the ground. "Come on, we'll go to the Caribbean. Watch some cricket in the sunshine, it'll be lovely."
Graeme Swann
Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special
"I like Jonathan Trott but he's not an opener. His record shows that, he doesn't like it and the selectors have put him in a difficult position. Maybe Gary Ballance should open and Trotty can go in at three. It would be harsh on Ballance, but might be a better alternative."
Cook has not hit a Test century since plundering 130 against New Zealand at Headingley in 2013 - Manchester United have had three different managers since then.
He does, however, believe he is getting better as a batsman and has been studying his technique in an effort to regain his form.
"I did have a look back in early February and watched a little a bit and it has changed quite a lot," he said. "It's evolutionary, if you tried to go back to exactly what you did it would probably be really unnatural.
"You're always constantly trying to tinker with technique. I'd like to think my game has improved over time, I definitely believe it has, it's just different."
If you're Alastair Cook, what do you do if you call correctly? Bat first on a pitch likely to be good for batting, or bowl in what could be the best overhead conditions of the entire match?
Maybe try to lose the toss? If it transpires that England bat first, then the skipper will once again be under the microscope.

"You need spin options because it's not going to be wet and muggy for five days - this wicket is going to turn. You need two spinners and I think the right option is to look at Adil Rashid."
Michael Vaughan
Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special
"England will wait until the last moment to announce their XI. The rain will spice up the pitch, which could mean they stick with four seamers. They might have announced a 12, waiting until they got here to name the XI. It might be a couple of hours before we find out."
Jonathan Agnew

"It's steady, rather persistent drizzle. At the moment the covers are on. I'd imagine that once it stops, it shouldn't take too long before we have some cricket. We know the West Indies have dropped Sulieman Benn and brought in Devendra Bishoo - we think that will be the only change."

The steel drums tell us that Test Match Special is on the air, with Jonathan Agnew wishing us all a good morning. Good morning to you, Aggers.

Graeme Love: Negative selection from England. Australia wouldn't keep with Cook, Trott, Broad if they weren't consistently performing. The team should be Mooen, Lyth, Ballance, Bell, Root, Stokes, Buttler, Jordan, Woakes, Rashid, Anderson.
Turtle Crew: Why is no one talking about Moeen opening, Trott for me is too early for him. Moeen opening keep Tredwell in...nice balance, attacking side.
Now, here's some fun. If leggie Adil Rashid does make his Test debut, he will become the 666th man to don an England Test cap. I'm told that the next England debutant will be given the option of avoiding wearing 666 on his shirt for the rest of his Test career, simply skipping on to 667.
I wonder what Rashid (or whoever it turns out to be) will do.
Kevin Downey: Is there anything worse in cricket than seeing a side, comprehensively beaten over five days, celebrating madly after gaining a draw, while the side that deserved to win trudges off the field as though they have lost. I agree that draws can be exciting but I feel cricket would be morally better without them and I wouldn't have to keep explaining to people who keep saying how can it be a draw. I wonder what Test cricket would be like if innings were restricted to one hundred overs per side and a new ball every fifty overs?
Hmmm, this isn't good news. Proper rain in Grenada now, enough for umbrellas to go up and the players to scuttle off for a brew. Also, I've now heard a rumour that Adil Rashid will be the man to replace Tredwell. Frankly, we won't know what's going on until the skippers come out for a flick.
While we wait, some housekeeping. As always, you can get in touch using the hashtag #bbccricket, external, by texting 81111 or by emailing tms@bbc.co.uk.
What do you make of England's problems at the top of the order? Moeen or Tredders? Rashid too? Also, do you bat or bowl if you win the toss? The deck is probably good for batting, but the overheads suggest a day for the swingers.
Right, we can confirm that the toss is delayed. Grenada is covered in grey cloud, some hazy mist hangs over a pretty empty stadium. However, the weather isn't preventing the players from being out there warming up. The start isn't delayed... yet.
Former England captain Michael Vaughan:, external Light drizzle in Grenada.... Looks like Ali in for Tredwell the only change.... Feels like a swinging day.
One more pressing question to answer is 'will we start on time?'. There's a touch of rain in Grenada, the covers have been on. We may have a slight delay.
Chat from the ground is that Moeen Ali will indeed return to the England team after the side strain that ruled him out of the first Test. James Tredwell looks to be the man missing out.
