Grundy's penultimate over, she's quickly through it, the Aussies add some ones and twos without any danger.
Knight, bowling round the wicket, is hoisted over her head for two and swept for four by skipper Lanning, who looks minded to add to her total of seven ODI fifties (which, together with her five centuries, is a good conversion rate in this format).

Quote MessageGrundy has no protection on the leg side so she can't afford to bowl straight. Especially with these two now looking like they want to get on with things.
It's spin from both ends for now as Grundy begins her eighth over - and Lanning pierces the off-side ring with a lofted cover drive which just evades the leaping Katherine Brunt at extra cover and brings her three. Perry is into double figures, hitting against the spin and clubbing the slow left-armer for four wide of long-on.
Earlier, play was suspended because the fielding circle had been marked out wrong! (2 overs)
England turn to the off-spin of Heather Knight - who took 1-42 from her 10 overs at Taunton, but took the crucial wicket of Perry and also ran Alex Blackwell out with a direct hit. Skipper Lanning briefly endangers her stumps when she nearly chops one on, but a tidy over from the vice-captain yields just two singles.

Quote MessageIf Australia can beat the inner ring, there's lots of ones and twos available in the deep.
The crowd seems to keep growing at Bristol as Australia keep the singles flowing against Grundy. Three from the over. And with 28 overs gone, England's four bowlers have bowled seven overs apiece.

Quote MessageBrunt doesn't smile much when she's bowling - she's such a fearsome competitor.
Australia are 80-0 in their tour game against Derbyshire, with David Warner smiting 54 off 63 balls. You can follow this match here.
Still no sign of a fifth bowler as we enter the 27th over - Lanning works Brunt down to third man for a single, Perry rotates the strike, and Lanning carefully opens the face to guide another four wide of third man.
After those two overs from Shrubsole, it's back to Rebecca Grundy's left-arm spin at the Ashley Down Road End, with a silly mid-off (and a ring of four off-side fielders behind her). Not much margin for error here for Grundy with no protection behind that off-side ring, she hits Lanning on the pad and there's an appeal - but the umpire's unmoved. Just two singles from the over.
Aus 107-2
An interesting change - Katherine Brunt is back for a second burst, this is her sixth over and England normally keep her back for the powerplay and/or the death. The hope may be that she can get Perry out cheaply, but the tall right-hander cover-drives for two, before dabbing a single through mid-wicket to nick the strike. Time for drinks.
All-rounder Ellyse Perry in at four for Australia - and her recent ODI batting figures are very scary if you're English. Her last nine innings were 45 not out, 65 not out, 0 (first-ball duck), 90 not out, 53, 72, 64 not out, 74 not out, and 78. Gulp. She's not out first ball here - and is under way with a single. England beware.
Bolton b Shrubsole 37 (Aus 103-2)
Shrubsole is rewarded for her persistence as Bolton tries to pull a good length ball, misses and the ball cannons into her off stump. That won't look too clever when the left-hander from Perth examines that shot again. But relief for England, though Australia still have plenty in the tank.
Cross continues at the Pavilion End, and there's no rest for Shrubsole as the ball keeps picking her out at fine leg or third man. Some busy ones and twos push Australia's score into three figures.

Quote MessageAustralia left-arm pace bowler Mitchell Starc, Southern Stars wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy’s other half, often turns up to watch her when she’s playing and he’s been spotted in the stands in Bristol today. He’s managed to find himself a seat far away from anyone else, though there is a small gaggle of young fans starting to gather close to him.
England make a change, but no sign of a fifth bowler yet as Anya Shrubsole returns for a second spell from the Ashley Down Road End. (Bit of a mouthful, that one). But the ones and twos keep coming for Australia's left-hand/right-hand pair.
Still just the four bowlers used (in five-over spells apiece) at this stage - Kate Cross begins her sixth, and Bolton continues to take it one single at a time - while Lanning is moving swiftly up through the gears, scampering through for a two and a three - having taken nine deliveries to get off the mark, she now has 19 from 19.
