Summary

  • Surrey beat Notts to reach One-Day Cup final

  • Notts' Greg Smith run out for 124

  • Surrey's Kumar Sangakkara hits superb 166

  • Surrey to play Gloucestershire at Lord's on 19 Sept

  1. Notts 33-3 (Smith 14, Patel 9)published at 9 overs

    Target 301

Samit Patel looks to have tweaked his right hamstring after running a single in the previous over. A quick once-over from the physio and the Notts all-rounder is good to go again.

Jade Dernbach has settled after a couple of expensive opening overs and an attempted yorker catches Patel in the midriff. Three from the final ball means the 30-year-old remains on strike.

  3. Notts 29-3 (Smith 13, Patel 6)published at 8 overs

    Target 301

Groans from the Surrey players as Greg Smith toe ends the ball into the ground and it narrowly misses his stumps.

Sam Curran follows it up with a cutter that just goes past Smith's edge. Just a single from the over.

This is a superb spell of bowling from the 17-year-old so far.

  4. Notts 28-3 (Smith 12, Patel 6)published at 7 overs

    Target 301

A beautifully timed flick by Samit Patel sends the ball racing to boundary but Jade Dernbach keeps it tight for the rest of the over.

  5. Notts 24-3 (Smith 12, Patel 2)published at 6 overs

    Target 301

Greg Smith punches the first ball through extra cover for four but Sam Curran comes back well conceding just two more singles off the rest of the over.

The ball looks to have stopped swinging a little already.

  6. Notts 16-3 (Smith 7, Patel 1)published at 5 overs

    Target 301

Notts are in all sorts of trouble and Samit Patel is going to have to bat a lot more overs than he expected this afternoon if he's going to get his side to Lord's.

  7. wicket

WICKET Lumb (c Davies b Dernbach 8)published at 4.3 overs

    Notts 16-3 (Smith 6)

Jade Dernbach gets in on the act as Micahel Lumb pokes at the ball and can only send it into the hands of Steve Davies diving to his right at second slip.

  8. Notts 16-2 (Lumb 8, Smith 6)published at 4 overs

    Target 301

Well Sam Curran's first over will definitely give him something to talk to friends about during lunch at school tomorrow.

Steve Davies stops him picking up a third wicket as he gets half a hand to ball as Greg Smith slaps the ball towards him at short mid-wicket, but an excellent piece of fielding by older brother Tom stops the ball going for four.

  9. Notts 13-2 (Lumb 8, Smith 4)published at 3 overs

    Target 301

Jade Dernbach is swinging the ball, but isn't quite managing to get it to come back in like Sam Curran and Michael Lumb sends him for a couple of boundaries, the second one narrowly edging past third slip.

  10. Notts 2-2 (Lumb 0, Smith 1)published at 2 overs

    Target 301

No hat-trick for Sam Curran but a simply excellent first over from the 17-year-old. New batsman Greg Smith grabs a single via another inside edge.

Game over at The Oval already?

  11. wicket

    WICKET B Taylor (lbw b S Curran 0)published at 1.3 overs

    Notts 1-2 (Lumb 0)

Two in two for the teenager! Sam Curran bowls another fine inswinger which thuds into Brendan Taylor's pads and up goes the umpire's finger.

Plenty has been talked about this young lad and you can see why now.

  12. wicket

    WICKET Wessels (b S Curran 0)published at 1.2 overs

    Notts 1-1 (Lumb 0)

What a start for Sam Curran! A beautiful inswinger does for Riki Wessels as he inside edges the ball into his stumps and sends them flying.

  13. Notts 1-0 (Lumb 0, Wessels 0)published at 1 over

    Target 301

Despite looking out on his legs, Kumar Sangakkara has headed out on to the field with Surrey, despite having a slight strain behind his left knee.

A wide off the second ball of Jade Dernbach's opening over is all that Notts can manage. Time for 17-year-old Sam Curran.

  15. What does it mean to reach a Lord's final?published at 14:53

Reaching a Lord's final is always a special day in a county cricketer's season.

BBC Radio Nottingham Sport have spoken to Nottinghamshire players Harry Gurney, Steven Mullaney and captain Chris Read on what it would mean to them if they could get there on 19 September.

Well, they'll have a tough task on their hands if they are to do so.

We are taking a short break from the live text commentary during the interval but we'll be back in about half an hour with the Notts chase.

It was a phenomenal innings, You can see how the Surrey crowd appreciate the work Sangakkara has done. He looks pretty tired at the end, he can barely raise his bat. The Surrey boys are still clapping him in changing room. Anyone in the crowd today has seen a real masterclass.

Brilliant innings, it was a great shot to reach his 150. Since passing his 100 he has played all manner of shots. Sangakkara looks knackered but he is trudging through.

You feel Surrey need to push towards 280 to be safe. You haven't seen any really big overs going for 17 or 18 runs. They have just been ticking along.
