Nice from Woakes, getting on top of a short delivery from Rabada and rolling his wrists over it to divert it behind square leg for four. More boundaries required...

Alex Stockton: An English batting collapse, but let's put it in perspective. This aggressive, bold style was going to backfire one day

Bryony Lever: My wicket alerts keep going off. However one name is always suspiciously absent. Are we sure Joe Root is playing?

Thomas Measures: Boycott going on about how the games already lost. Did he not play at Headingley in 81?

  3. Eng 113-6 (Root 41, Woakes 2)published at 26 overs

Sensible stuff from England, just knocking five singles from Tahir's latest over. The good news is they bat deep, with Adil Rashid and Stuart Broad still to come, but they may wish they had David Willey's big guns in reserve today rather than the relative pea-shooter that is Reece Topley.

Thank you Stephan. Well, like an undercooked ravioli, the middle has fallen out of this England innings. South Africa have not just been pretty in pink, they've been pantherish. Can the much-maligned Chris Woakes help Joe Root rebuild this innings?

  5. Eng 108-6 (Abbott 6-1-26-2)published at 25 overs

Replays don't make Moeen's shot look any better. Chris Woakes is the new man, the latest to try and provide support to Root. Perhaps James Gheerbrant can do it? He's here for the rest of the England innings...

"That wasn't a very good shot. He's trying to work a straight ball through the leg side, and the bounce does him. It was a good catch from Amla, high above his head."

This could turn into a real shellacking for England. Moeen Ali is the latest to go and the latest to play an awful stroke. Just back of a length from Kyle Abbott, Moeen inexplicably trying to whip off his hip and getting an edge to Hashim Amla at slip. England have lost 5-21. Joe Root isn't a batting partner, he's an eyewitness.

Paul Lewis: Stuart Broad will feel at home back in the England ODI side for the 1st time since the World Cup. It's like nothing's changed.

David Oxendale: And people complain about Alex Hales. Maybe let the rest of the innings unfold before passing judgement.

Adam Bolton: Just luring them into a false sense of security. Stuart Broad back in the attack will have them out for 80.

Craig McNaughton: Don't know why everyone is panicking. Root and Ali to put on 150 in 15 overs was clearly the plan all along.

  9. Eng 103-5published at 24 overs

The life has been sucked out of this England innings, the Lions being suffocated by Proteas in pink. Tahir, a smiling assassin, torments Moeen Ali with yet another googly. When Moeen finally hits one, Chris Morris fields like Jonty Rhodes, drawing applause from the crowd. More Than A Feeling plays on the tannoy. The DJ likes his hair rock.

James Latimer: We're doomed, doooooomed I tell ye.

Ian H: People say that we bat a long way down the order. The trouble seems to be that we don't bat very high up.

Jordan Sullivan: Went to fix a printer at work with England having loss just the one wicket, come back and now four down! When will the collapses end!?

  11. Eng 100-5 (Abbott 5-1-21-1)published at 23 overs

We said at the time that Alex Hales gave his wicket away in a pretty soft manner. Three more wickets later and it looks even worse. Buttler, by the way, is the second man to be bounced out, following Jason Roy. Both looked like the ball came on to them too quickly. Moeen Ali the new man, watching as Abbott completes a wicket maiden.

"The ball comes on to you much quicker at this altitude, it hits you before you're ready. It really is awkward. Buttler didn't play in the Test match, he'd have had a net or two and that's it."

This match might not make it in to the Johannesburg evening. Jos Buttler is the latest man in what is becoming an increasingly meek England procession, top-edging a hook shot into his own helmet, presenting a looping caught and bowled to the returning Kyle Abbott. England have lost 4-13 and are falling in a heap.

Hillary Mangena: Finally the real England. We all know the collapse is always looming, was getting worried!

Usman: Just looking out my window and I think I saw Tahir run past in his celebration run.

  15. Eng 100-4 (run-rate 4.55)published at 22 overs

Imran Tahir is like Tigger, bouncing all over the place. Like a man attached to the crease with elastic, he bounds to the wicket, bowls, fields off his own bowling, sprints back to mark, then repeats. Root and Buttler have no choice to be circumspect. Tahir, by the way, has 3-16 from four overs.

  16. England women updatepublished at 13:05

England women need a breakthrough in the second one-day international against South Africa at Centurion.

South Africa are 78-0 in their 20 over, chasing 263 to level the series, with 16-year-old Laura Wolfvaardt and Trish Chetty going well.

Worryingly, England pace bowler Katherine Brunt, who is seeking her 100th ODI wicket, has just gone off the pitch with a niggle.

"I don't think Morgan is the right man to come in at four. Why not send Jos Buttler in? If he gets in, he destroys them. If he gets out, it doesn't matter."

  18. Eng 98-4published at 21 overs

I'm not sure what was the best part of that wicket, the catch, or Imran Tahir's celebration. There will be some great pictures of Tahir, both arms in the air, saluting the crowd with not one team-mate around him. England's left-handers have been undone by a couple of googlies and now Jos Buttler joins Joe Root in a bid to salvage something from this innings. At the minute, 2-2 looks nailed on.

  19. Latest scorecardpublished at 13:02
