More from England captain Eoin Morgan on Sky Sports: "I don't think we've been good enough over the last few games. It's just a blip - we've had such a good run of things in white-ball cricket.

"Now we've been tested and it's an important stage for us - how we come back from it is really important. I think we're optimistic for the World T20 - we're inexperienced but we're confident in our own ability."

AJ: No matter what the format you still need the ability to bowl the ball where you want it to go. Chris Jordan can't do that.

Alex Thomas: SA showing just what a good batting track this is... England have lost the plot in these last five games.

"Compare the opening stands, Roy and Hales against De Villiers and Amla. Rabada was all over Roy early doors and the English bowlers really got some treatment."

South Africa's Faf du Plessis: "It's important we came back, we've won 2-0 in this series but for me it is about learning every day. If you take your catches you win your matches and our fielding has been good.

"Today was a good wicket and we had AB playing his 360 degree shots so I am a very happy captain.

"You can only do what's in front of you but we were about 70% with the ball and there is room for improvement."

Man of the series Imran Tahir: "I'm really pleased that I'm doing well for the team. The more we play against England.

"I think they're going to come with a different gameplan, but I always have a Plan B. I'm really looking forward to the World T20 - the pitches in India will maybe suit spin a little bit more."

AB de Villiers: "I really enjoy it up the order - you can play normal shots and get value for your strokes. That's where I want to bat and I am really enjoying it so far.

"I love playing here - the crowd is always amazing and always get behind the team.

"We didn't start well with the ball but the crowd got us back into the game and it was a fantastic performance."

Will he open in the World T20? "I hope so, that's the plan so far. No-one is assured of a place in the team so I am going to have to performing as well as possible."

  11. Captain's viewpublished at 15:36 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2016

England captain Eoin Morgan: "We had two men at the crease - I thought 180, 190 possibly 200 was on the cards. The fact we didn't get to 180 was disappointing and then we started terribly with the ball.

"When we put ourselves under the pump like that it is very difficult. Once you allow guys like that to get on top they punish you.

"I honestly think we are on the right track playing a brand of cricket that can win an ICC event, whether it is this one coming up or one in 2017."

  12. Match summarypublished at 15:33 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2016

An utter, utter shellacking for England. Put in to bat, theirs was a curious innings, which started badly, briefly looked good in the middle - with Jos Buttler and Eoin Morgan playing superbly - and ended in the mother of all collapses. Buttler's dismissal for 54 triggered a slapstick sequence of seven wickets for 14 runs in 20 balls.

In the end, with England having sacrificed a bowler, it was child's play for South Africa's brilliant duo of AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla, who bludgeoned 14 fours and nine sixes between them as they subjected England's bowlers to a traumatic afternoon.

"There was nowhere for England to go after those seven wickets fell for 14 because they did have an opportunity to post something big. South Africa knew England were coming in one bowler short and they knew they could play with freedom."
