"England have been going at 12 an over. 10 an over isn't a huge problem in Twenty20 cricket. This is definitely on. We were scathing about England's bowling, but I think we've seen bowling fast for a living isn't necessarily all that easy."

  2. Eng 160-4 (Root 43, Buttler 14)published at 13 overs

Wide from Steyn and Root flicks it off his pads for four! And a couple of hard-run twos make it another good over from England. Incredibly, they are right in this game. But here comes Tahir again...

Dale Steyn is back. His first over went for 23. Great players usually find a way to come back. Will he?

"Duminy started well but England have latched onto him in the end. They have got the momentum back, and this game is still very much on. 82 from eight overs? If the target was 190, 180 or so you'd say that was routine. It's a great game of cricket."

Louis Dale: Big total to concede but if they chase this down, this could be the making of England.

    Eng 148-4 (need 82 runs off 48 balls)published at 12 overs

These two could make things very, very interesting. Short from Duminy and Root pounces on it like a lion on an elderly gazelle, smacking it to cow corner for a one-bounce four. And now Buttler's in on the act! Dragged down again and he pulverises it over the rope at midwicket. 30 runs off the last two overs, England have momentum again...

"A good over for England. Joe Root, showing a lot of patience not to chase after the ball, made the most of the gifts he was eventually given with those boundaries."

Lewis Squires: Poor innings from the captain. Slowed proceedings right down.

Paul Stokes: Morgan bats like Boycott then gets out. Interesting tactics.

  10. Eng 133-4 (target 230)published at 11 overs

Buttler not quite in gear yet, it's like trying to start a supercar on a hill. Hang on, he's off and running now. Short and wide from Morris and Buttler uppercuts him for four.

"England really needed that. As long as he doesn't try to smash the ball Joe Root's really an amazing T20 player now. That was an uppercut off the back foot."

  12. 6 runs

    Eng 125-4published at 10.2 overs

Glorious from Root, leaning back and deftly uppercutting Chris Morris over point for another maximum.

"It's not completely lost. It never is until... Buttler's out. The game goes on but from here South Africa are obvious favourites."

  14. 6 runs

    Eng 118-4 (Root 18, Buttler 1)published at 10 overs

Buttler gets off the mark, then Root finally breaks the shackles with a big six over cow corner. England needed that...

"Pressure had started to mount with the lack of boundaries. Morgan probably felt like he had to do something. That feels like a bit of a hammer blow after that bright start."

    Morgan b Duminy 12 (Eng 111-4)

The struggle is over. Morgan was floundering and he's gone now, inside-edging one from Duminy onto the timbers. Enter the main man...

"That's a very good over from Tahir. It's not looking such a good equation now. Pace off the ball is helping South Africa, just as it helped England (a little bit)."

  18. Eng 109-3 (run rate 12.11)published at 9 overs

The spinners are slowing it up here, just loosening the wheelnuts on the England juggernaut. Tahir proving harder to read than War and Peace here, Morgan completely missing a googly and nearly losing his off pole. He lets a full toss slip but Morgan can't nail it, just a single. Are England missing Buttler? That's 23 balls without a boundary...

  19. Eng 103-3 (target 230)published at 8 overs

It's tactical from Duminy. He's deliberately dragging the ball down short, quite content to be pulled, as long as he doesn't get hit over the top. Again Root tries to smack him to the fence on the pull but he can't beat the boundary rider. Root punches his glove into his bat. England need a boundary...

Jamie Morgan: Surely we need to start thinking a bit smarter and we win this. Every ball doesnt need to be smashed to the boundary.
