  • Australia beat SA in women's tournament

  1. Eng 100-3published at 7.3 overs

Spin from both ends as JP Duminy takes the ball. Is he the man that England target? Root tries to find the gap on the off side with a swivel pull but the man on the fence cuts it off. Just signs that timing the ball is becoming more difficult...

  2. Eng 96-3 (Root 6, Morgan 4)published at 7 overs

This could be the match right here. Faf du Plessis turns to his trump card, Imran Tahir. He tied England in knots in the recent limited-overs series, and if he can bamboozle them here, he'll win South Africa this game. Morgan and Root opt for a policy of cautious accumulation off his first over, just seven in ones and twos. That's OK for one over, but they'll have to stick their heads above the parapet a bit more next time...

Phil Coulson: Massive innings for Morgan. Momentum with England, advantage with South Africa, too close to call.

  4. Eng 89-3 (run rate 14.83)published at 6 overs

Eoin Morgan the new man. England are chasing 230 and they've somehow found a way to demote Jos Buttler down the order. It's crazy but I like it. Keep some firepower in reserve...

"We talked about the utterly riotous start South Africa had in their innings, England are ahead of them at this stage."

  6. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 5.4 overs

    Stokes c Morris b Rabada 15 (Eng 87-3)

The cameo is over. Stokes gets exactly the ball he was looking for, a full toss on his legs, and smacks it straight to the man at deep square leg. England are shedding wickets quicker than they'd like here...

Fenners: Should have put Buttler in at four, keep the momentum going...

  8. 6 runs

    Eng 85-2published at 5.1 overs

Stokes! In the slot from Rabada and it disappears, cracked miles over long on for a big six. Rabada under pressure here, Stokes simmering...

  9. Eng 79-2 (target 230)published at 5 overs

Root off the mark with a deft dab to third man. Will he look to play his usual subtle game, or try some power-hitting?

"What an innings that has been from Jason Roy. He's got England away to the flying start they had to have to be in with any chance of reaching their total. Can they possibly sustain it?"

  11. Eng 77-2published at 4.4 overs

Joe Root the new man. The runs continue to flow, this time Abbott trampolining five wides over the head of Quinton de Kock...

"An amazing start from Jason Roy. The second ramp shot wasn't a good option, but his scoring has moved England back into normal territory. He has given England a shout of winning."

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 4.3 overs

    Roy c De Kock b Abbott 43 (Eng 71-2)

Big wicket! Roy goes for the scoop again and this time he mistimes and it lobs tamely up into the gloves of Quinton de Kock. What a knock by Roy though, he's given England a real sniff...

    Eng 71-1published at 4.2 overs

South Africa are going to bowl yorkers here. Abbott is targeting the blockhole. But he can't stop Jason Roy. Roy one step ahead, anticipates the short ball and scoops it over his head for six!

Scott Lennon: Time for Jason Roy to silence the doubters for England. Coming of age innings here.

  17. Eng 65-1 (Roy 37, Stokes 6)published at 4 overs

Oooh, that looked a decent shout, Stokes rapped in front by a yorker but the umpire doesn't flinch. That's actually a decent over by Rabada, just nine off it.

"This is a crazy game. When it matters, Twenty20 is fantastic. It's completely different to the Australia v New Zealand game earlier, which was fascinating for different reasons, but is still pretty enthralling."

  19. Eng 63-1published at 3.3 overs

Roy clips Rabada to the boundary rider at midwicket and they scamper two. Rabada has gone to his death-overs variations, cross-seamers and yorkers the order of the day. But they won't help him if he bowls there! Wide and Stokes throws the sink and all the other kitchen accoutrements at it! It beats the man on the fence at third man.
