So when - and where - does Davey target the boundary? Singles won't be enough - and he can't connect trying to lift the ball over the keeper's head. Dot ball - 20 from eight needed.
Left-hander Watt dabs his first ball for a single to fine leg. 20 from nine needed, Davey back on strike.
A cross-batted chip to long-on, no time for a second run on this occasion, 21 from 10 needed, and Watt to face for the first time.
Teenager Mark Watt joins Josh Davey at the crease. Panyangara to bowl. Davey hoicks a two to cow corner - 22 from 11 needed.
Berrington c Chatara b Tiripano 36 (Sco 124-8)
Gone! Berrington tries an uppercut, but Tiripano has done him with a change of pace. He departs for 36 from 39 balls and Scotland need 24 from 12 balls.
Davey chips a single to long-on, Berrington scrambles two leg byes down to fine leg.
Better from Tiripano, Berrington can't connect with a lifter, then can only smear the third legal delivery for a single. 27 needed from 15.
Despite going over on his ankle in the field earlier, seamer Donald Tiripano is going to have another bowl. Davey backs away, Tiripano follows him, firing in a yorker and they run a single. An attempted slower ball is signalled as a wide - 28 from 17 needed...
Sco 118-7 (target 148)
Captain Hamilton Masakadza rotates the field again, and Chatara goes round the wicket. Davey aims another big heave, it flies towards long-off, Sean Williams is under it... but drops it over the line for six! 30 needed from 18 balls - don't touch that dial, this is going the distance...
With third man up, Davey tries a scoop over his head but can't connect and takes a tumble. He does much better with a powerful lofted drive over the bowler's head for four. 37 needed from 20.
Opening bowler Tendai Chatara returns to the attack, his chin decorated by a tiny wispy goatee beard. But Josh Davey gets the Scotland dug-out on their feet as a short ball is hoisted over mid-wicket for six. 41 needed from 22 balls.
Josh Davey is the new man, Zimbabwe turn back to Sean Williams but that double blow may have knocked the stuffing out of Scotland. Richie Berrington is still there trying to force the pace - he has 34 from 34 balls, and Scotland are into three figures, but he's got a mountain to climb with 48 needed from the last 24 balls. And with seven wickets down, very little margin for error.
Sharif st Mutumbani b W Masakadza 1 (Sco 95-7)
What a way to finish your spell! Wellington Masakadza spins one down, new batsman Safyaan Sharif swings and misses, Mutumbani takes the bails off and Masakadza takes his cap with career-best figures of 4-0-28-4. Three stumpings for Mutumbani, and Scotland are reeling. They need 53 from 30 balls and are running out of batsmen.
Mommsen c sub (CJ Chibhabha) b W Masakadza 31 (Sco 93-6)
Oh, no... just when Mommsen was looking well set, he takes a big stride and tries to repeat the shot from the previous ball when he swiped a two over the covers, and gives sub fielder Chibhabha (on for the injured Vusi Sibanda, you may recall) his second catch of the day.
Mommsen shows some innovation against Panyangara, bending down to ramp him over fine leg, but Chigumbura makes two good stops on the rope to stop what looked like boundaries on both occasions. The skipper digs out a good yorker - Mommsen has 29 from 25 balls, Berrington has 30 from 29, and the Scots need 57 from 36. We could be on for a tense finish here.
We had reports earlier of fans being unable to buy tickets at the stadium,, external despite there being 40,000 empty seats - but those who have made it in are enjoying their day.
Left-arm spinner Wellington Masakadza, who took those two early wickets, gets the nod from his big brother to return for his third over. But Mommsen is dragging his country along by their bootstraps here. He's not giving this up without a fight, sweeping Masakadza for four, and eight from the over leaves them needing 63 from 42 balls - the required rate up to nine. And this stand has produced 43 from 33 balls.
Frustrated, Panyangara sends down a wide, and Mommsen keeps the strike with a single. He has 18 from 17 balls, Berrington has 27 from 25.
Scotland, remember, have never won a match at a top ICC global tournament (ie a World Cup or World Twenty20). If these two stay together, is this their big chance?
Part-time spin from both ends was leaking runs, so Zimbabwe turn back to the front-line pace of Panyangara. A delicate dab to third man brings Mommsen a well-run two. Then there's a big, big shout for lbw against the Scots skipper... umpire Erasmus is unmoved but that was really, really close.
The ball-tracker has it as an "umpire's call" for impact in line - and hitting the wickets - but with no DRS in this tournament, Mommsen survives.
Mommsen whacks Raza for four through cow corner, while a short, loose delivery down the leg side is expertly leg-glanced to the boundary by Berrington. That's 21 runs from the last 10 balls. Two more singles, 12 off the over will do very nicely at this stage. 75 needed from 54 balls, and at this stage Zimbabwe were 73-4. Funny game, cricket...
