"It was travelling but he hung on to it. Buttler a key man in this situation has gone. Morgan and Bayliss are just staring from the dugout, not much they can say. The pressure is just mounting with every ball."

    Buttler c Nabi b Shenwari 6 (Eng 50-5)

Whadda catch! England are imploding and that man Mohammad Nabi has turned into Jonty Rhodes. Jos Buttler prods a half-hearted drive into the off side, Nabi moves low to his left and makes the grab at short cover. Matron, pass me my revolver, I'm going for a walk in the woods....

The stadium announcer nails his colours to the mast, encouraging the crowd to chant for Mohammad Nabi. They don't need asking twice. Nabi, the man who grew up in a refugee camp, is all over England here, with Buttler almost dragging a reverse sweep on to his own stumps. England have scored only eight in the last three overs.

"Trevor Bayliss usually looks phlegmatic but even he is struggling to keep still in the dugout."

  6. Eng 48-4published at 7 overs

I've just seen a replay of that England over. It's like watching an episode of Some Mothers Do 'Av Em. I still can't believe what Morgan did. Buttler drives Rashid for four, but the leggie responds by ripping one past the outside edge.

Jonathan Poole: Classic classic England. Dear lord.

Hugh Greenish: How do England ALWAYS manage this?

Dave: Well at this rate I'll be heading out for my walk much sooner than I had anticipated.

"In that last over England lost three wickets for one run, this is serious stuff, they have got a huge hole to climb out of."

  9. Eng 42-4published at 6 overs

So, in case you're not quite believing what you're seeing, England have lost 3-0. Jos Buttler joins Ben Stokes. Looking again, Root called Stokes, but Stokes didn't move. Root was furious as he left, punching his bat. Stokes might be better staying out there for a while. Leg-spinner Rashid Khan is on...

Root run out 12 (Eng 42-4)

Listen to the noise in Delhi! England are imploding - three wickets in the over. It's horrible mix-up. Joe Root comes for a single, is sent back and is not even in the frame. Mohammad Nabi breaks the stumps but has the presence to whip one out of the ground and hold the ball to it. Netherlands 2009. Netherlands 2014. Afghanistan 2016?

    Eng 42-3

You are kidding. Ben Stokes survives the hat-trick ball... just, but now might have been involved in a mix-up that has sent Joe Root packing. He's miles out, but has Nabi broken the stumps?

"We have noted that very few balls have turned, it just kept coming with the arm, it is a desperate aberration. Nabi cannot believe it. Without wanting to be a pessimist, Ben Stokes prefers pace on the ball and he won't see any of that."

    Morgan b Nabi 0 (Eng 42-3)

Gone first ball! Eoin Morgan, what have you done? You will never see another dismissal like this in T20 cricket. Morgan has left, that's right, left the ball on to his off stump. No shot. Nothing, nathan, nada. Use your bat, man! It's T20 cricket. Golden duck. England all over the place. Nabi on a hat-trick...

"He is a good bowler, he has no real mystery, he gets very close to the stumps and is not intimidated. Just when they were getting going Vince has gone, he played some nice shots but couldn't last. England will face a lot of spin, which they haven't always enjoyed."

    Vince c&b Nabi 22 (Eng 42-2)

Gone! New bowler Mohammad Nabi does the trick, befuddling James Vince before tricking the Hampshire man into a leading edge. Nabi, one of the best players outside Test cricket, does the rest with a simple return catch.

Ian Funnell: Strange decision to bat first by Eng. Always play better when chasing as proved in the last game.

stevedwhittle: Up at 5.30 am here in Brooklyn to cheer on our boys. Neither the wife nor the cat seem remotely interested.

Speaking of supporters, the only England fans in Delhi appear to be two blonde women. Either that, or the cameraman has chosen just to focus on them. Another lovely back-foot drive from Vince brings four more, screaming the ball past the dive of the man at cover point.

Chris Duncan: Dangerous for England, we've seen the good (SA), the bad (WI) could this be the ugly?

John Michael Poole: Sluggish start from us. We need a big total as Afghanistan can bat and our bowling hasn't exactly been brilliant has it!

  20. Eng 36-1published at 4.3 overs

Shot! James Vince has hands fastest than a magician, punching Hamza through the covers for four. There's a right old knees-up going on in Delhi, Afghan fans making plenty of noise. Root does his bit to whip the crowd up, reverse-sweeping for four.
