  1. dropped catch

    Dropped catchpublished at 4 overs

    Ban 52-0

Rankin is off after going for 16 from his first over. Right-arm seamer Kevin O'Brien replaces him, going around the wicket to try and cramp up the batsmen. His length is poor, though, and Soumya whips to the on side for four. Rankin then fails to claim a catch at mid-off, allowing the ball to go for another boundary. To rub salt in the wound, Soumya then paddles another four. It is all going Bangladesh's way.

  2. Ban 33-0published at 3 overs

Tamim batted through against the Netherlands to score 83 in Bangladesh's first match. He is looking useful again here. He lofts a drive over mid-off off Murtagh for his second six and then hits a full ball through cover for four. Brilliant.

"The Irishmen are starting to look at the ground. They've made a mess of that over."

  4. Ban 20-0 (Tamim 12, Sarkar 3)published at 2 overs

Bangladesh hit their stride as Tamim Iqbal whips one for six and the smashes a four down the ground.

"That's the second blemish in the field and that was an issue against Oman."

  6. Ban 9-0published at 1.2 overs

Oh no. That is poor from Ireland. Boyd Rankin starts really well but from a loose throw at the stumps Bangladesh get four over-throws. The throw was from McBrine - the man who dropped Sarkar - but two men were backing up and failed to get to it.

  7. Ban 4-0published at 1 over

Good first over. Tim Murtagh taking pace off the ball and making it hard for Bangladesh, who should be one wicket down. Boyd Rankin is the man from the other end, with rain still in the air...

  8. dropped catch

    Dropped catchpublished at 0.3 overs

    Ban 3-0

Tim Murtagh starts well, drawing a block from Tamim Iqbal and then making the stop as the batsman dances down to club one down the ground. Strike swaps to bring Soumya Sarkar to the crease but his skied shot to deep midwicket is dropped by Andy McBrine. Should have taken it.

"120 is what Bangladesh will be thinking. They are at a disadvantage. The shorter the game, the better it is for Ireland."

There aren't many of them, but some brave fans have stuck it out and are now dancing in the stands at the prospect of some cricket. Some of them are wetter than than Titanic's tea towels.

Here come the Irish fielders, followed soon after by Bangladesh openers Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar...

So, Ireland have a chance, when it looked like they were going to washed away by the rain.

That could well be a big toss to win as well. We've waited a long time for some actual cricket and there is a very good chance it will have been worth it...

Hang on a sec! Here we go. This game has a pulse. The toss has taken place, Ireland have won it and are going to bowl first. Not a tough call that for Will Porterfield.

The game is going to be 12 overs a side. We should be getting under way in about 15 minutes.

    Ireland v Bangladesh

M'colleague Steph has just run off and salvaged two slices of cake left over from a meeting upstairs. It's currently the best thing that has happened today. It will only be beaten when a ball is finally bowled in Dharamsala.

Come on rain, I think you've had enough... let's get you off.

  19. Covers back onpublished at 15:22 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2016

    Ireland v Bangladesh

It is still only light rain at the moment, but it is enough to have the covers speeding back on to the square. The ground staff in Dharamsala are earning their brass today.

One deadline to keep in mind... 21:18 local time (15:48 GMT) is the latest the covers need to be coming off at to ensure a five-overs-a-side game.
