"Pakistan have got three left arm bowlers so it will be interesting to see it on this wicket.

"It is a different wicket, it’s holding together, a little bit of green on the top and we could see the seamers on top.

"Pakistan have some quality seam bowlers, they definitely have the upper hand on the Indian seam bowlers."

On India's opening game defeat against New Zealand: "I thought it was fascinating viewing. The pitch was not at all what we expected but what we saw was incredible.

"Fair play to New Zealand they were smart to leave out Southee and Boult and play three spinners.

"India now are under so much pressure. I think this game has so much more on it because of that first game."

Right, confirmation. We will start in 30 minutes, with the game reduced to 18 overs each. The skippers will wander out for a flick of the coin at 14:40 GMT.

That tweet from the ICC is big news. It doesn't look to be official just yet, so we'll wait on that. 20:30 in Kolkata would be 15:00 GMT.

"This is so important for the two countries. They are trying to build some peace and keep that cricketing rivalry."

Now, I wouldn't usually print anonymous correspondence, but this was questioning my research, so I felt I had to take him/her to task. India and Pakistan have met nine times before today in World Cup or World T20 matches. India have won eight and there's been one tie (India won in a bowl-out).

So, don't question and put your name on your texts....

"One thing I didn't expect to hear here is a bit of John Denver."

The presentation and speeches before the match doesn't just involve cricketers. Actor Amitabh Bachchan is now on the mic. I'm not familiar with his work. Now they're playing John Denver's Country Roads. How bizarre. Importantly, it's not raining and the players are out warming-up. No word on a start time, though.

Couldn't face watching England's tournament fall apart so soon and I avoided the 2nd innings yesterday. Punishing my skepticism by watching every ball this weekend. No rivalry as such but i had an intense dislike of a cricket-hating friend who could smack it around effortlessly whilst I had to work very hard just to be ok.

"I think the Pakistan side is looking pretty good. When Afridi is in form, I think that gives the team boost. One person I am really looking forward to seeing is Mohammad Amir."

Sachin Tendulkar is there. The way India batted against New Zealand, they should probably ask the Little Master to put his pads on. He'd get in the Retired XI, right?

Michael Blighe: A Pakistan win would be a lovely dessert following the main course of English victory yesterday. And nice Placebo reference.

  16. Does the delay help the players?published at 14:10 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2016

"I think some will be revved up. Like Boom Boom Afridi, he will be desperate to get out there. But sometimes it is better (to have a delayed start), with all this going on, you could then have a 10-minute warm-up and then you’re out there. It depends on the player’s personality."

Last season I played for my local club side against a team which is based just two miles away from us so you could deem it as a rivalry.

Anyway, in that match I was up against two of my brothers and, the first ball which  I bowled to one of them I got a wicket and I also hit him for four when I batted latter on in the match against the same brother. Unfortunately my side lost the game but, I had the bragging rights in the family due to what had happened in the match.

Just joining us? Expecting some cricket? It's been raining in Kolkata, so the start has been delayed. No news yet, but we're hanging in there to bring you all the news as we have it.

Indian all rounder Ravindra Jadeja: "We are looking to be positive and look forward to game. I think as we all discussed in the team meeting not to be thinking about the previous game and look forward to this game. Everybody is positive. I think it is a big game for us in the World Cup T20, in front of a home crowd, it is always big.

"Obviously we played against them a few weeks ago and beat them. Everyone is positive, all the teams will be same and everything has been covered and I am looking forward to this game."
