Jimbo: Approx a run a ball needed with 9 wickets in hand and their playing shots like that, why?? Brainless idiotic cricket

John Michael Poole: It's the hope that kills you with England in any sport isn't it

  3. Eng 112-5published at 18 overs

Where are we? 21 needed from two overs. Who do you back? I'd rather be Australia, but I'd be worried by the power of Brunt. Game. On.

  4. 6 runs

    Eng 111-5published at 17.5 overs

England need more of these! Katherine Brunt arrives and takes a maximum over cow corner. Life in this game yet.

    "That is a horrific shot."

"I don’t believe that. I can't describe the shot without wondering what on earth she is doing.

"That is a really poor shot from such an experienced player. That really has put the cat amongst the pigeons."

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 17.2 overs

    Taylor c Healy b Farrell 21 (Eng 103-5)

Ball game. Sarah Taylor tries to reverse sweep Rene Farrell, but only loops a simple catch to wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy. Taylor departs and, with her, you suspect England's hopes go too. Charlotte Edwards looks gutted.

"Meg Lanning gave a masterclass. She played risk free cricket and picked the gaps it is something England need to take note of."

"You have to wonder if England have the bottle for this."

  10. Eng 102-4published at 17 overs

Danni Wyatt is the latest to try to support Sarah Taylor. That wait for a boundary has struck England once more. Taylor's six was in the 13th over, some 26 deliveries ago (watch it in the entry below if you don't believe me). 31 needed from three overs. Can they give Virat Kohli some Polyjuice Potion and send him out as Lydia Greenway?

"What is going on? This has been a theme that they are not pushing ones and twos. Heather Knight is not a big hitter, I'm just surprised she took that option."

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 16.2 overs

    Knight c Villani b Osborne 1 (Eng 96-4)

Australia are applying the thumbscrews at England are cracking. Heather Knight hits new bowler Erin Osborne down the ground, straight to Elyse Villani, who grabs at the second attempt. It's starting to look a struggle from here.

Francis Edwards: One thing we've learned from this tournament is that England have 2 batters and then the rest are there to fill the void.

Jordan Sullivan: Even the Women are managing to collapse! unreal!

Anthony King: I fear England have culminated. Pressure tells.

  14. Eng 96-3 (target 133)published at 16 overs

Leggie Kristen Beams, Taylor reverse-sweeping, England coming back for three in what is probably their best bit of running in the innings. Knight is struggling to get going, though, only one from the five balls she's faced. England need more than nine an over. Big ask. Sarah Taylor, how are you feeling?

"With Sarah Taylor at the crease you would still back England but if she goes then it changes."

  16. Eng 91-3 (need 42 from 30 balls)published at 15 overs

More nerve-jangling than the last episode of The Night Manager out there. I won't give anything away, but I can't believe Dickie Roper turned out to be Jonathan Pine's father. Heather Knight the new batter. Experience in the middle for England.

“Again you wonder if that shot selection was wise. For my money that was way too exotic.

"It just puts pressure on what is behind now."

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 14.5 overs

    Sciver b Perry 0 (Eng 91-3)

I've got a bad feeling about this. With tension rising, Nat Sciver blinks first, attempting an awful swipe at Ellyse Perry and having her furniture removed. England need Corporal Jones in the dugout. Do. Not. Panic.

"The good news is that Sciver has been the only other one who has been consistent for England. There has been some collapses but she has held it together."

  20. Eng 90-2 (target 133)published at 14 overs

Looking again, I have no idea where Beaumont was trying to hit that. Aiming over the leg side, a leading edge ended up at cover. Crazy shot when you consider wickets are the only way Australia can really get back into this. Nat Sciver the new batter.
