Oh yes! The first maximum of the match, Beaumont helping a leg-stump full toss over square leg for six. Why mess about with scoop shots when you can belt it like that?
Perry back, Edwards looking back down the pitch with a face scrunched up like my mum when she's lost her reading glasses. Beaumont, pretty needlessly, goes for a Buttler-like scoop and almost loses her furniture.

"This is exciting. It is what we want to see. There danger in a semi-final of it being a flat game but the score that Australia have posted is tasty enough to keep us interested and England have started reasonably well."
In the ridiculous pace of this start, I haven't had the chance to tell you that all the highlights from Australia's innings can be found at the top of this page. Things still going England's way, Edwards sweeping at Schutt and getting a top edge behind the keeper for four.

"That would have been the catch of the women's tournament."

"Almost a brilliant catch. She had it and just for a moment I thought she was going to cling on."
Eng 24-0
Oh, this would have been a worldie. Beth Mooney at mid-off, diving to her right, getting one hand to Beaumont's drive but just putting it down. Would have been one the best you could see. Next ball, Beaumont almost holes out to Mooney again. All happening.
Another change for Australia, more meds from Rene Farrell. Another awful delivery, and now some iffy fielding. Edwards cuts for four. Meg Lanning, blonde ponytail behind shades and a cap, keeps a poker face. Is she worried?

"Edwards got the fuller delivery she was hoping for and made sure she got everything behind it. Edwards is good down the ground."
Australia ask the medium pace of Megan Schutt to put this wayward start right. Schutt, like the rest of her team, has zinc smeared across her nose and cheeks. How Australian. Oh, shot skipper! A belting drive down the ground for four by Edwards. England have set off like a train, helped by some bang average bowling.
Have Australia's players swapped arms during the interval? Perry follows Jonassen in bowling too straight, first with a wide, then allowing Beaumont to whip for four. Tricky name to spell, Beaumont. Lots of vowels.
Pace. Ellyse Perry.

"Seven from the over and if England carry on in that style they will be in Sunday’s final but there is a way to go yet."
Good start from England in front of an almost empty stadium. I'm told there was little to no coverage of this game in the local media. How odd.

"Tammy Beautmont may be small in stature but she hits a lot of shots."

"A poor start from Australia. I see why they have gone for the spinners, to slow it down in the powerplay, but she needs to find the right line."
What on earth was that? There's a huge explosion just before the first delivery, fireworks to signal the start of the innings. It was like a canon summoning the king to his banquet. "Not a fan of that," says one of the players on the sump mic. Jonassen slides three of her left-armers down the leg side for three wides before Beaumont, twice the subject of lbw shouts, chips down the ground for a couple.
