  1. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 13.2 overs

    Munro c Moeen b Plunkett 46 (NZ 107-3)

I love it when a plan comes together! Plunkett bowls a couple wide outside off stump, Munro can't resist and has a whack, but he doesn't get all of it and it loops to Moeen Ali at third man. England just putting the brakes on here.

"Moeen Ali has conceded only ten from his two overs which is a good effort from him, with the way the batsmen are coming at him."

  3. NZ 106-2published at 13 overs

Anderson has the forearms of a man who could break house-bricks in two. He steps away and absolutely batters Moeen down the ground, beating a sprawling Jordan on the boundary.

Freddie Higgs: Stuart Price hasn't watched any of the other matches then. Far from over, looking forward to seeing how our batsmen react again.

Andy Hewitt: What on earth are you talking about Price. Remember SA.

Elgan Evan Alderman: Result already obvious? After 6 overs against SA, we were at our lowest ebb. Then what? Greatest victory. Come now, Mr Price.

  5. NZ 99-2 (run rate 8.25)published at 12 overs

Munro has got some exotic shots in his locker. He gets down on one knee and switch-hits Moeen hard for another four. Rashid does well off the remaining five balls, conceding just three singles.

"That was a fabulous over. Good from Moeen Ali. You sense if England can keep it tidy and maybe squeeze one more out, it turns the game back in England’s favour."

Rob Parrett: England could be chasing 200 here. But relax, we're happier chasing! Then again, NZ are happier defending. But shhh about that.

Niall Davey: Fantastic over from Ali! Are we getting back in this?!?!

Charlie Sanford: Looks like another big chase for England, they've done it before and can do it again.

  8. NZ 92-2published at 11 overs

Corey Anderson, another who hasn't really hit his straps in this tournament, is the new man. He plays out two dots, and that makes it a very good over for England - a wicket and just three runs. Good comeback by Mo after the savaging he received at the hands of Angelo Mathews.

"Well caught. What a good catch. That was horrible, swirling, running backwards, over his shoulder. That really is a very, very, fine catch indeed.

"Any cricketer will tell you how difficult that is. The sort of catch that can win you a match."

  10. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 10.3 overs

    Williamson c & b Moeen 32 (NZ 91-2)

Well done Moeen Ali. Morgan brings him on to wrest some control and he does just that with the vital wicket of Kane Williamson. Skied up in the air, Moeen orders everyone else out of the way and takes a good catch running back. Now can England seize the momentum?

"Munro didn’t look like he had much of a clue about that. He was just trying to get his legs out of the way. That yorker was on the money but was unlucky."

Rory Stoves: Looks like it is going to be a big chase!

William Smith: England could be chasing a big score. 200?

Stuart Man Price: This is the poverty of T20. Result already obvious after 9 overs.

  13. NZ 89-1 (Williamson 31, Munro 36)published at 10 overs

Munro is going here. He's got his eye in and he's swinging for the fences. A huge hoick at Stokes brings him four courtesy of a Chinese cut that pings between his legs and races away for four. And again! Perfect yorker from Stokes, but Munro somehow clears his standing leg and diverts it behind him for another four. Stokes, as Nigella would say, coming to a rolling boil...

“It is a brilliant shot. Such a strong shot. The full switch-hit. Munro is looking dangerous.”

    NZ 78-1published at 9 overs

Munro, as you can see in our video highlights section, isn't the most aesthetically pleasing batsman, but he's certainly effective. He pulls out an ungainly reverse-sweep that he somehow directs in front of square for a big six. Williamson, the dash to Munro's bash, late-cuts a lovely four behind point.

Dave: England bowing has been poor to average this series. Heading back towards poor by the looks of it.

Ian Funnell: 51 in the powerplay is prob 10 too many. Need a good middle period now.

  17. NZ 66-1 (run rate 8.25)published at 8 overs

A few scampered singles make that a very profitable over, and England are itching for another wicket here - the partnership is worth 49 off 35 balls.

“That is deserving of two rockets, and some steam and a Bunsen burner. Whoever controls these things liked that six.”

  19. 6 runs

    NZ 63-1published at 7.3 overs

Ben Stokes is the new bowler, fresh from that rather magical performance against Sri Lanka. Oh that's delicious from Williamson, high elbow and easy power, smacking Stokes inside out for a big six over long-off.

  20. NZ 55-1published at 7 overs

Rashid is the apprentice zookeeper charged with subduing the rampaging lion. In fact, he doesn't get to see much of Munro, who only faces one ball in the over. Williamson survives an optimistic stumping shout, but that's a good over, just four from it.
