  1. NZ 150-6published at 19 overs

    Jordan 1-24 from four

Jordan is nailing his yorker length here. It's so hard for New Zealand to get their boundary fix. Until that is, Jordan decides to redeploy Operation Full Toss. This time Santner puts it away for four. It's still a respectable over though, nine from it. I'm told the highest score New Zealand have conceded in this tournament is 158...

"The last two overs have been terrific from an England perspective."

  5. NZ 141-6 (Elliott 1, Santner 1)published at 18 overs

Elliott digs out the hat-trick ball. New Zealand need a big last two here.

“He bowls some good low full tosses that Stokes doesn’t he? It is a good catch. Where England have done well is attention to detail, they have their best fielders at long off and long on.”

  7. wicket

    Anderson c Jordan b Stokes 28 (NZ 139-6)

I think we can declare Operation Full Toss a resounding success. This time it's Anderson trying to boom one down the ground, but he doesn't get it out of the middle and Jordan hoovers it up. New Zealand are in trouble here...

"Nice straight forward catch for Willey and there goes another wicket.

"As we know in this game, that is how you peg teams back."

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 17.3 overs

    Ronchi c Willey b Stokes 3 (NZ 139-5)

England are coming right back into this. Luke Ronchi gets a full toss and smacks it straight to David Willey. New Zealand are suddenly in danger of falling short of a good total here...

Jay: Is this the same Chris Jordan that the whole universe has been criticising?

William Smith: England have done a great job pegging New Zealand back.

  11. NZ 136-4published at 17 overs

Luke Ronchi is the new man - he can bang. Jordan gets away with a probable wide that isn't called, but what an over that is - just three from it. Excellent death bowling, England finishing strongly.

"Excellent catch, quite a spectacular one with a full dive. England will be delighted with another excellent piece of fielding. I don’t think the Kiwis will be too disappointed to see Taylor go."

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 16.3 overs

    Taylor c Morgan b Jordan 6 (NZ 134-4)

Jordan in his natural habitat now, the death overs, and immediately he strikes - full ball on middle stump and Taylor, backing away to leg, can't get it past the diving Eoin Morgan at extra cover. Brilliant catch.

"England's fielding so far has been really good. That was one of their weak points coming into this tournament."

Steven F. Galloway: With dual Eng/NZ citizenship I already have an interest in the final. But come on England!

Sanjay Kapoor: NZ will not reach 200. I expect Eng to chase about 160-170. Still, game on!

  16. NZ 133-3 (run rate 8.31)published at 16 overs

Ross Taylor marmalises a pull shot right out of the screws - it looks a certain four but it's brilliantly fielded by a diving David Willey on the boundary to save one. Another good save from Jason Roy keeps the batsmen to two when Anderson heaves to leg. Oh no, not there, Liam - full toss, like throwing a chicken nugget right into the jaws of a great white, Anderson puts it away for a huge six over long off. All that good work in the field undone.

  17. NZ 121-3published at 15 overs

So, New Zealand's sights will have lowered somewhat from 200 to around 180, I reckon. Taylor can be a nervous starter against spin and Morgan brings on Rashid to try and smoke him out. It's nudge-and-nurdle rather than crash-and-bash for New Zealand at the moment - or at least it is until Rashid's last delivery, which is blasted down the ground for four by Anderson.

Ross Taylor joins Corey Anderson at the crease. He punches down the ground to get off the mark.

"Much needed wicket. You sense that wide one was part of Plunkett’s plan.

"200 is on the cards but you feel if England pull it back to 190 that is a good score to chase."
