  1. wicket

    WICKET Joyce (c O'Brien b White 56)published at 15:00 British Summer Time 1 May 2016

    Sussex 140-5 v Leicestershire

The text commentator curse strikes again, with Ed Joyce the man to go - a soft dismissal as he is caught behind down the leg-side. The pitch at Hove looked a good one for batting at the start of play, but there's no question that Leicestershire will be the happier side at the moment.

Wonder if they're keeping tabs on events at Old Trafford?

Joyce stands firm for Sussexpublished at 14:56 British Summer Time 1 May 2016

    Sussex 139-4 v Leicestershire

A half century for Sussex batsman Ed Joyce from 127 balls, but they have lost Luke Wells for 23 since lunch, caught off the bowling of Clint McKay. Joyce has struck eight boundaries so far and is closing in on his highest score of the summer, having made 61 against Essex last month.

  4. wicket

WICKET Procter (lbw Gronewald 26)published at 14:47 British Summer Time 1 May 2016

    Lancashire 125-3 v Somerset

A setback for the Red Rose county at Taunton as Luke Procter goes. Alviro Petersen is 21 not out as he is joined by captain Steven Croft.

  5. wicket

WICKET Wessels (c Root b Plunkett 12)published at 14:41 British Summer Time 1 May 2016

    Nottinghamshire 163-4 v Yorkshire

David Willey's second spell for his new county Yorkshire yields no more dividend than the first one. The England T20 all-rounder (pic below) has figures of 0-54 from 14 overs so far.

But Liam Plunkett achieves a first post-lunch breakthrough as Riki Wessels goes for 12, caught at second slip. After suffering while Steven Mullaney was at the crease during the morning, the defending champions have now turned this into an even contest.

Davies builds Surrey totalpublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 1 May 2016

    Surrey 160-2 v Durham

Surrey are laying the foundation for a sizeable first-innings score as Steven Davies brings up a 55-ball fifty with a single off Brydon Carse. The left hander has eight fours so far and has dominated his partnership with Arun Harinath (62*), which is now worth 69.

  8. Derbyshire in declinepublished at 14:26 British Summer Time 1 May 2016

    Derbyshire 147-6 v Northamptonshire

BBC Radio Northampton's Alex Winter at Wantage Road:

"Some turnaround here since lunch with four wickets in 26 balls for Northants. Nothing appears different for the bowlers since the break, but Derbyshire have just been very slow to resume.

"They slumped from 111-2 to 133-6 with Rory Kleinveldt taking three wickets in nine balls, and the wicket of Wayne Madsen by Azharullah.

“It was Alex Hughes who rescued Derbyshire in this game last year with a maiden first-class century from the middle order. The visitors need a similar knock now.”

  9. A brief summing up...published at 14:24 British Summer Time 1 May 2016

    Lancashire 115-2 v Somerset

BBC Somerset's Anthony Gibson at Taunton:

"Gritty - the cricket; probing - Jack Leach's slow left arm; trying to break the shackles - Alviro Petersen; terrier-like - Chris Rogers' captaincy."

  10. Wait goes on at New Roadpublished at 14:14 British Summer Time 1 May 2016

Just in case any of you were wondering, we still haven't had a resumption in the Worcestershire v Essex game, where rain forced the players off about 15 minutes before the scheduled lunch interval. Tom Westley is 48 not out, with Alastair Cook on 36.

  11. wicket

WICKET Durston (c Rossington b Kleinveldt 0)published at 14:10 British Summer Time 1 May 2016

    Derbyshire 133-6 v Northamptonshire

I wonder what Rory Kleinveldt had for lunch. The South African takes his third wicket in successive overs, having already sent back Hamish Rutherford and Neil Broom.

Bad goes to worse as Azharullah joins in by removing Wayne Madsen for 11 with the help of another catch by Adam Rossington, that's four now plus a stumping for the keeper - and the home side have a second bowling point.

  12. wicket

WICKET Donald (c Dickson b Bernard 37)published at 14:05 British Summer Time 1 May 2016

    Glamorgan 124-6 v Kent

A memorable moment for for local boy Hugh Bernard as he marks his Kent debut by having Aneurin Donald caught on the boundary. Having been dismissed for handling the ball last week, Sean Dickson shows he can use his mitts for more orthodox cricketing reasons.

  13. 50 runs

Carberry in controlpublished at 14:01 British Summer Time 1 May 2016

    Hampshire 105-2 v Middlesex

Is it too late for Michael Carberry to revive a Test career, which ended in 2014 after half a dozen appearances? He reaches a 114-ball half-century with a boundary off Steven Finn, the eighth of his innings. By the way, Carberry's Test average of 28.75, is 11 higher than current incumbent Alex Hales.

  14. wicket

WICKET Brown (lbw b Leach 47)published at 13:58 British Summer Time 1 May 2016

    Lancashire 87-2 v Somerset

The miserly Mr Leach strikes again, denying Karl Brown a half-century after a 128-ball innings, which featured seven fours. Leach's figures are now 2-12 from 11 overs, four of them maidens.

  15. Back on at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:54 British Summer Time 1 May 2016

    Nottinghamshire 134-3 v Yorkshire

The rain didn't hold up proceedings for long. Michael Lumb and Riki Wessels are out in the middle for Notts, and David Willey is being given another go with the ball as he looks for his first Yorkshire wicket.

  16. wicket

WICKET Rutherford (c Rossington v Kleinveldt 35)published at 13:50 British Summer Time 1 May 2016

    Derbyshire 117-3 v Northamptonshire

Adam Rossington is having a good day behind the stumps for Northants. After a smart stumping this morning to get rid of Chesney Hughes for 39, there's his second catch of the game as New Zealander Hamish Rutherford goes for 35. Wayne Madsen and Neil Broom both new at the crease.

  17. wicket

WICKET Lloyd (b Coles 4)published at 13:48 British Summer Time 1 May 2016

    Glamorgan 107-5 v Kent

Matt Coles strikes again for Kent, winning an lbw decision against David Lloyd immediately after lunch. All-rounder Graham Wagg announces his arrival at the crease with a boundary after being dropped first ball at gully - and then Coles goes off with an injury. It's all happening at Canterbury.

  18. Postpublished at 13:41 British Summer Time 1 May 2016

Haven't succeeded in getting the Notts v Yorkshire cricket on the TV next to me, but I'm very much enjoying Another Cinderella Story, starring Selena Gomez, even without the volume on. Fab bit of masked ballroom d going on at the moment - but there's a few 'looks that could kill' in Selena's direction.

I wonder when Michael Haneke is going to cast Selena in one of his films?

  20. Intervalpublished at 13:29 British Summer Time 1 May 2016

    Hampshire 95-2 v Middlesex

BBC Radio Solent's Kevan James at the Ageas Bowl:

"Michael Carberry (44*) called on all his experience to make sure he was unbeaten at lunch. As well as text book straight drives and one or two well executed pull shots, he's been leaving the ball a lot outside off stump.

"James Vince (25) will be disappointed he didn't back up his excellent hundred against Yorkshire in the last game with another big score here. He's always prone to getting out edging behind and it proved his undoing once more. He still had time though to show us one or two of those sweet cover drives of his."
