"Anderson has bowled some good balls today, but he just hasn't got anything for it. Give him a Duke ball, and you can't afford to let your concentration drop."
James Anderson is reintroduced into the attack. He beats Mathews with a lovely delivery that shapes away, before the skipper gets an inside edge that trickles for a single.

News reaches me that Chris Jordan has taken two wickets in the IPL final. The destroyer. Mathews rocks back to cut Moeen and gets an under-edge which flies past his stumps. No chance for Bairstow there.

Moeen's off - he trots up to the dressing rooms for a loo break or a quick rub-down, pausing briefly to exchange a high-five with a young supporter. Lovely stuff. There's an optimistic caught behind appeal when Mathews swings at one and Bairstow makes a diving grab, but that's missed the bat.
Mathews has temporarily decided to pause his policy of all-out aggression against Moeen Ali - he pads up a couple and blocks out the rest for a maiden. Odd.

"That's the first time in five innings that Sri Lanka have reached 200, as in the last innings of their last series against New Zealand, they only made 133."

"Mathews has always been a good striker of the ball, so they're trying to buy a wicket at that end. Whoever decided at tea that Finn should come in and hit the deck got it right."
Mathews has come over all Donna Summer here and decided that enough is enough is enough - he muscles Finn through midwicket for three. Finn has definitely got a been in his bonnet - he's chuntering away to himself between - but it seems to have done him the power of good, he's hitting the bat with a few extra clicks now.

Mathews continues to enjoy himself against the spin of Moeen - reverse-sweeping him into the vacant area at third man for four. One for the spotters' guide too as England are no-balled for having three men behind square on the leg side.

Now then, can that wicket spur Finn on? He almost gets another one when Dinesh Chandimal gets an under-edge playing a cut - pretty sure he's been out like that before in this series - but this time it evades the stumps.

"I don't think England will mind Mathews having a bit of a go at Moeen Ali. There was a missed stumping earlier."
Dinesh Chandimal is the new man. Mathews meanwhile launches Moeen over mid-on for a one-bounce four.

"He's been trying him with the short deliveries, it's not really been kicking on for Steven Finn, but he top-edged this one as it bounced a little bit higher. Silva played very well and showed us what he can do."
Silva c Bairstow b Finn 60 (SL 182-4)
Finn is behind the line by a fraction of a millimetre, and Sri Lanka's best partnership of the series has been broken. Something irked the normally docile Finn in that over, and after a few well-chosen words with Silva, he threw in a spiteful short ball, which reared up and took the top edge of Silva's attempted work to leg. It went straight up in the air and Jonny Bairstow did the job.
