The one moment of joy on a pretty wretched day for Sri Lanka was a 300th wicket for spinner Rangana Herath.

He becomes only the third Sri Lankan to reach that milestone, after Muttiah Muralitharan and Chaminda Vaas.

He tells TMS: "My first wicket was Ricky Ponting, caught at slip. But all of them have been satisfying."

Edward Pinches: Hopefully England can finish of this game faster than Jonny Bairstow finished his burger last night in Durham.

Alan Baird: Hosting Test cricket not cheap so to have a game finish inside three days is financially tough. Cmon Sri Lanka make a fight of it.

BBC Weather's Susan Powell: "That cloud is proving pretty stubborn to burn off, but it's going to be a fine day, the breeze will stay a feature so the temperature will be about 15 or 16. Tomorrow shouldn't be a problem either, it should stay dry."

"It's a fine day for fielding and I fully expect England to go through Sri Lanka like a pack of cards. I expect this to be finished by tea time.

"The only feasible reason for batting again is if the bowlers are tired but they only bowled 40 overs yesterday. There's no reason not to enforce this follow-on."

  9. To enforce, or not to enforce?published at 10:48 British Summer Time 29 May 2016

With England a whopping 407 runs ahead and needing just two more wickets to wrap up the Sri Lanka first innings, attention turns to the question of whether England will enforce the follow-on for the second match in a row.

    Aggers has some inside info...

And James Vince has just told Sky Sports that England will "probably, yeah" enforce the follow-on. So there you go.

It was a chastening day for the tourists yesterday. Sri Lanka competed well on a 50/50 first day to restrict England to 310-6, taking some blinding catches along the way.

But on day two, everything that can go wrong, did go wrong. First they shelled two straightforward catches, including reprieving Moeen Ali on his way to an unbeaten 155.

And then they capitulated with the bat for the third innings in a row, slumping to 91-8 at the close as Chris Woakes and Stuart Broad took three wickets apiece.

"I was expecting the Sri Lanka fielding to get better yesterday, but it didn't. And they still seem to be batting with a Headingley mentality, they're carrying the ghost around with them."
