Sri Lanka opener Kaushal Silva, who made 79 not out, on Sky Sports: "That innings at Durham helped us a lot in terms of our confidence. We just had to get into our system that we can do things.
"When the sun is out it's easier for us and the ball doesn't swing much. But still we have to play really well to score runs - they have a quality attack.
"The first hour is going to be crucial tomorrow. We have to bat really well and set the tone for the day."

"There isn't a really fast bowler - that's the sort of bowler who might do something on this pitch."
England's Chris Woakes, who made 66, his maiden Test fifty: "I've always thought I've had ability with the bat - it was just about unlocking that. I see myself as a batsman, rather than a guy who can score a few down the order. I'd be lying if I said the honours board wasn't on my mind today. But it's nice to get a half-century on the board."
More from England's Chris Woakes on his form: "I'm really pleased with my rhythm and I feel like I'm hitting the crease nicely. It's coming out well."
Are you bowling quicker than three years ago? "Definitely. I sorted a few issues with my front arm, and my run-up is quicker. I've not been in the gym too much."
Geoffrey Boycott
Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special
"Chris Woakes' batting was exemplary. He looks like he can play - composed and at ease. His bowling has improved tremendously. He got more pace out of the pitch than any of the others.
"Sometimes he tries to bowl the magic ball, but you have to keep the discipline."
England all-rounder Chris Woakes, who made 66, on Sky Sports: "It's a pretty good batting surface. I felt like it did a bit yesterday but it flattened out today. Getting 19 wickets after today is going to be tough. But that's Test cricket. The Sri Lankans batted well."
Geoffrey Boycott
Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special
"Jonny has got to catch them. He dropped one at Durham too. As much as we know he and Jos Buttler are not specialist keepers, they've got to catch more of them. There is no great wicketkeeper pushing them, so they're picking batsmen who keep wicket.
"We have two world-class batters, but the others have huge questions marks. England can't afford a wicketkeeper who can't bat."
Michael Vaughan
Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special
"It's level pegging after days one and two. So many Test matches we watch these days, you know the result after two days. This is what Test cricket is all about.
"I'd still rather have the runs on the board - just. Sri Lanka will need a big, big score to put England under pressure. But well played. They have played beautifully."
Geoffrey Boycott
Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special
"They batted very well indeed. The day was about batting - for England and Sri Lanka - and the pitch has been very difficult to bowlers."
Michael Vaughan
Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special
"A very good day for Sri Lanka. They'll be crossing their fingers for a clear day tomorrow. If it stays like this it's a real good opportunity to bat the whole day tomorrow and get up to that 416 and beyond. If they play well, they could put England under pressure in the third innings of the match."

Andy: Sri Lanka showing England's top order how to play the conditions today.
SL 162-1
Great fighting from Sri Lanka. A final over from Chris Woakes is safely negotiated by Kusal Mendis and that's been a fine effort from the tourists. Their day, on balance...

Tim Carlisle: Could easily see Bairstow up at 5, Stokes 6, Buttler 7, Moeen 8 against Pakistan next series. Might be harsh on Vince though.
Silva clips Moeen through midwicket for two, and some scampering earns the batsmen three singles as well. Sri Lanka are cantering to the close...

"I've been really impressed with Chris Woakes today - he's been the quickest of the England bowlers, he's bowled a good channel, and he's hit the bat hard."
Jimmy Anderson has made a boo-boo here. With absolutely no chance of a run-out he underarms the ball at the stumps and allows Sri Lanka to sneak an extra single. "Sorry, sorry," he mutters, quelling Woakes's wrath. If that had been Jimmy bowling, he'd have had steam coming out of his ears.

"Full credit to Sri Lanka - they've shown the same spirit that they showed in that second innings in Durham."
Silva stonewalls a maiden from the returning Moeen - the finish line is in sight for this Sri Lankan pair. Three overs left...
