New batsman Kusal Mendis blocks out his first couple of deliveries from Moeen Ali.

"Karunaratne is the first man dismissed for Sri Lanka in each of their five innings in this series."
Vic Marks
Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special
"Relief all round - for Bairstow, who dropped him, and for Steven Finn, who has been straining to find a wicket. You always think it's a bit lucky to get one down the leg side, but Karunaratne does get a long way over to the off side."
Karunaratne c Bairstow b Finn 50 (SL 108-1)
Steven Finn - he just has that knack of taking wickets, doesn't he? Down the leg side, Karunaratne can't resist trying to nudge it off his legs, but he doesn't get it wide enough and a diving Jonny Bairstow takes a good catch.
Kaushal Silva, by the way, is only the second visiting batsman to record three consecutive fifties in his first three innings at Lord's - West Indies' Roy Fredericks being the first. He moves to 51 with a single off Finn.
Vic Marks
Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special
"This is some response. Right from the first couple of overs, they were very positive - they looked like they were enjoying batting out there. Both have played almost impishly - periods of quiet with the odd flurry of boundaries."
Geoffrey Boycott
Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special
"You can see the confidence is up - they're fancying the England bowling."
SL 107-0
And there's a half-century for Kaushal Silva too. He gets there with a push into the covers. Now Sri Lanka will want at least one of this pair to get a century...
Roshan Abeysinghe
BBC Test Match Special
"It's an important innings. Sri Lanka have a lot of work to do but it's the type of start they want."
SL 104-0
Not so long ago Dimuth Karuraratne was 14 runs behind Kaushal Silva but he's beaten his old mucker to 50. A tap to mid-on gets him to the landmark...
Finn back into the attack. Karunaratne nudges a single off his pads.
Andrew Samson
BBC Test Match Special statistician
"This is Sri Lanka's first hundred opening partnership since January 2014."
Silva punches Moeen Ali through the covers to bring up the three figures for Sri Lanka. England toiling...
Geoffrey Boycott
Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special
"Anderson bowled it beautifully and drew him wide. Karunaratne could have left it but he couldn't resist. It went more third or fourth slip."
Wake up! Karunaratne smashes an Anderson slower ball over the off-side field for four, then edges one through the gap between second slip and gully for a second boundary. And another! With England setting a 8-1 off-side field, the leg side is exposed and Karu takes full advantage with the sweep.
Karunaratne nudges a single off Moeen. It's all gone rather flat out there...
Geoffrey Boycott
Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special
"Jimmy Anderson has been the best bowler - he has hit the deck and bowled the lines - but the ball is doing nothing. And these batsmen have played superbly."
Dear oh dear, there's not much going on out there for the bowlers. An Anderson delivery dies utterly on its way through to Bairstow. A maiden.
