I've just seen Coronation Street's Jim McDonald. Isn't he in prison for holding up a bank? Must've escaped.

In other, far more important news, Joe Root hits a couple of boundaries - the best of them being a lofted pull through square leg - to edge towards a half-century of his own.

Pakistan's Yasir Shah won't look back on this match with fond memories. He's previous worst return in a Test was 3-209 against Bangladesh, but generally he finishes with seven or eight in a game. At the moment he's on 1-250. Ouch.

I've never seen Joe Root look out of form. Never.

I reckon you could storm into his hotel room at 4am, throw a ball in his direction and he'd still manage to middle it for four.

Wahab Riaz is fielding for Pakistan this morning, and he feels his bandaged elbow after throwing the ball back to the keeper. I think it was Chris Woakes who pinned him with a lifter yesterday.

Alastair Cook might start about making a ton now - another boundary coming via third man.

Would this be the first time a batsman has scored his 50th half-century twice in the same match?!

They are queuing down the road to get into Old Trafford this morning. It's not quite Ashes 2005-style queues, it's probably due to a combination of the Monday morning commute delaying people and the extra security checks which are now needed. England are scoring a single per ball at the moment. Easy.

He has played extremely well. We haven't focused on that but he has. He's in really good nick at the moment.

How will Pakistan accept this challenge? The openers will have a task on their hands and Younus Khan has got to find his touch. It's about competitive spirit and dragging England into the fifth day.

Andy Harley: Wish everyone would stop banging on about the follow-on. Weather sounds good and the only negativity is coming from the media.

England bowler Stuart Broad: "We did a fantastic job bowling Pakistan out for under 200 on a flat wicket.

"You want your bowlers fresh, so it's good to have a bit of a rest. You've got to whack the ball into the pitch and it takes another big effort to get 10 wickets.

"Most Test match wickets don't do anything until days four and five, so that's when we're going to do our bowling."

The Dawn newspaper in Pakistan, external says England's decision not to enforce the follow-on has made has made them an "absolute laughing stock in world cricket" and is a "moral triumph for Pakistan".

And there's more: "Instead, to their utter surprise, Cook and company gave the tourists a handsome reprieve by not forcing the follow-on and by coming out to bat again in what must rank as one of the most glaring instances of cowardice in cricket history."

Just for good measure, the Dawn says Cook's England are "chicken-hearted".

England have just brought a little bit of undue negativity around what has been a very good three days. It's just created a huge talking point that they didn't need. They've just got to hope they win the game and the weather doesn't help Pakistan.
