We've spotted a couple of covers on the square when we last glimpsed some pictures from The Oval, but we think it's only a precautionary measure.

What we've also glimpsed are some congratulatory handshakes for Pakistan batsman Iftikhar Ahmed,, external who's been rumoured to be in line for a Test debut at the top of the order. His full international experience extends to a couple of ODIs last year and a T20I in March.

...in fact if you're looking for anything remotely Olympian, after GB's gold rush last night, I'm afraid you've come to the wrong place.

But the title of the number one team in Test cricket? It's up for grabs now - and England have the chance to reclaim the crown* which they wrested from India on 13 August 2011, actually lifted nine days later, and then surrendered to South Africa on 20 August 2012 just after the London Olympics. But any one of four sides could end up on top.

    Welcome to England v Pakistan.
