That was right in Matthews' arc. Much needed for West Indies after some good pressure from England. They've adapted to the conditions and identified that pace on the ball is more difficult to score off - especially when it's straight and back-of-a-length.

A change at both ends, Georgia Elwiss on for Sciver and she's bowling to Matthews. On TMS Stephan Shemilt says these two are good friends.

Matthews goes aerial again, right back over Elwiss' header for four more. She's getting plenty of elevation here. It was a good start from Elwiss otherwise.

Head coach Mark Robinson said during an interview (that you can hear on TMS during the lunch interval) that some fielders are natural athletes, but some others have really maximised their potential and are doing everything they possibly can to make sure they're a good fielding unit. Bar the last match, when there were a few errors, I think that rings true.

  4. WI 21-1published at 9 overs

Jenny Gunn comes on for Brunt and England think they have a run out as Taylor drives it straight, Gunn gets her fingertips to it and the ball smashes into the stumps as Matthews scrambles back. Looking at the replay, it looks like her bat was behind the crease.

A maiden to start from Gunn.

Lovely from Matthews, lofting Sciver high towards long-on, two or three bounces and into the rope for another four to move on to 17.

Fran Wilson, who's injured at the moment, is just about the only England player who doesn't tie her hair up in the field. So when she's chasing the ball to the boundary, it looks a bit like an '80s music video when they've got enormous fans blowing behind Bon Jovi or whoever.

For full '80s music video effect, dry ice would also be required...

  8. WI 17-1published at 7 overs

Brunt bangs it again but this one does come on to the bat and Stafanie Taylor pulls for her first four. Big appeal from Brunt as Taylor tries to swing again and misses, the ball caught by Amy Jones down the leg side. Nothing doing but surely that should have been a wide if there was no touch from bat or pad?

Brunt now giving the umpire a stern look. She means business today.

Taylor and Matthews love having width on the ball. But the way Sciver's bowling, nice and straight, they've got to create their own.

  10. WI 12-1published at 6 overs

Matthews and Taylor are struggling to time it here with and that's lovely from Sciver to finish, beating Taylor outside off. Just one off the over.

Here's bustling Brunt again, banging it in but that's a loopy tennis ball bounce that doesn't come on to Taylor's bat. Looks like another slow surface at Sabina Park.

Full and swinging in to finish. Half an appeal from Brunt but that was missing leg comfortably. Still, excellent start from England's attack leader - 1-4 from three overs.

England will be pleased with the way they've started. They've been disciplined.

  14. WI 10-1published at 4 overs

Windies' skipper Stafanie Taylor the new batter and how England would love to see the back of her early - two half-centuries already in this series including a crucial 84 on Sunday, which she paced beautifully.

Two off Sciver's over as Taylor gets off the mark.

I don't think Katherine Brunt was overly happy with that ball she bowled. But it was an extremely hard catch from Amy Jones when it goes over your head and you're running back, especially when you've got the helmet there.

Katherine Brunt is looking frustrated at the umpire, but the rest of the team are all gathering around Amy Jones.

    Quintyne c Jones b Brunt 1 (WI 8-1)

Katherine Brunt makes the breakthrough! Shaquana Quintyne attempts a pull but that's too far outside off and she top-edges it high behind the wicket and Amy Jones runs back and watches it swirl before safely pouching it. Great start for England.

Funnily enough, immediately before the wicket Brunt had her hands on her hips and was kicking the burgeoning footmarks in a particularly unimpressed manner. The umpire had a look too and a member of the groundstaff came on with a white bucket full of sawdust, Brunt taking a handful and rubbing it into the pitch.

It looks a bit soft underneath after heavy rain last night. Brunt didn't even seem that happy after the wicket!

England won't be too disheartened to see the ball beating the bat on a few occasions, and the opening bowlers sticking to their plans and bowling straight.

  19. WI 8-0published at 2 overs

Nat Sciver the other new ball bowler for England and Hayley Matthews is down the track to her off the second ball, meeting an outswinger at the pitch of the ball and timed it beautifully though the covers for four.

Wciketkeeper Amy Jones immediately moves up to the stumps to put a stop to that. Sciver is shaping these away nicely from the right-handers, though perhaps the movement is early enough to allow the batters to adjust.

  20. WI 4-0published at 1 over

Here we go... Brunt on the short side first and Matthews tucks it off her hips for one. Shaquana Quintyne then does similar from her first delivery faced to also get off the mark.

Brunt then fires a wide down the leg side. She's not happy, shaking her head and giving the crease an accusatory look.

Matthews then misses an attempted cut before the over finishes with a leg-bye.
