I had a great Shami stat to share with you but we'll have to wait until he comes in to bat now, which presumably will not be today as he is listed at number nine. I was also hoping we would be able to describe a third centurion...for India's bowlers, but Mishra finished with 1-98, to go with Yadav's 2-112 and Ashwin's 2-167 from 46 overs.

Thanks Stephan, that worked out quite well for me, I have only 90 minutes to describe when the final session begins in just under a quarter of an hour, with the close still scheduled for 11:00 GMT. Two ladies in head scarves and flowing skirts are rolling the wicket (I am fairly confident they are both ladies but it is not something I was expecting to see). There are a few cracks in the surface, so how will India fare? Let's find out.

Be honest, who thought England would go to tea on day two of this first Test with 537 on the board? Yesterday it was Joe Root, today it was Ben Stokes, with Moeen Ali linking the two. Three tons for England, countless missed chances for India.

Charlie Gorton: I'm sorry @englandcricket - First ball I listen to on @bbctms yesterday saw Root's demise. Today's was Stokes.

Simon Lassam: England could blow teams away if the top 6 bat well and the 'tail' wags: 10 & 11 have five 1st class 100s between them.

Tim Ricketts: Michael Vaughan's confident 5-0 prediction due to batting frailty looking pretty solid.

It is a flat pitch but they have made the most of it and have given their bowlers a bit of breathing space. There is quite a big mountain for the Indian batsmen to climb. Whatever the surface, if you make 537 in your first innings, you're in a good position.

Ansari lbw Mishra 32 (Eng 537 all out)

Finally, and mercifully for India, England are all out. Zafar Ansari was looking for a sweep, but simply missed it. It was pitching on and hitting the stumps. Right shot, wrong execution. At the end of all that, England have racked up a massive 537. Yes, it's a flat deck, but India will be under pressure when they bat after tea.

Broad is batting like a man who doesn't really want to start bowling yet.

    Ansari 31, Broad 4

Still Ashwin, who, I've just discovered, has an awful record when it comes to bowling against England. He averages 53, compared to 25 overall. Ruddy awful. Here, number 10 Ansari is playing the world number one like a club bowler. India are begging for this last wicket.

    Eng 533-9

Do pigeons faint? I had no idea. Amit Mishra is latest India bowler called on to end the home misery, inducing an inside edge from Broad that flashes past Ajinkya Rahane at leg slip. Replays show that Rahane got a finger-end on the ball, but it would have been a worldie.

    Ashwin 45-3-164-2

Ravi Ashwin, who has had a pretty miserable time since lunch yesterday, comes back in a bid to wrap up this England innings. Ten and 11 at the crease, an off-spinner to two left-handers. Should be a doddle for the world's number one bowler, right? Not exactly. Ansari dances and lofts to deep mid-wicket for four.

    Andrew Samson
    BBC Test Match Special statistician

Stuart Broad in 2016 is averaging just 7.76 in Test cricket with the bat.

  20. Eng 522-9published at 156 overs

India were the opponents when Stuart Broad top-edged the ball into his own face, causing considerable damage. That was at Old Trafford, a much quicker surface than here in Rajkot. That doesn't stop Mohammed Shami from testing the middle of the pitch, but the ball barely bounces knee high.
