The 150 partnership has come up from 227 balls. It's taken this pair 66 balls to move from 100 to 150.
Didn't I only just write that this partnership had reached 100? Well, it is worth over 150 now. Jayant Yadav has looked imperious this morning. He finds the gap between cover and point with a drive off Anderson that goes for four more.
Jimmy doesn't like that. He digs one in short and has Jayant flustered for the first time.
The batsman ends on top, though, pulling dismissively for another couple of runs.

You could say it's an innings close to perfection from Kohli. Apart from that caught and bowled to Adil Rashid he's not offered a chance. I think India will carry on batting until maybe some time after lunch.
India lead by 111 runs
Jayant uses his feet to Moeen to supreme effect, dancing down to launch him to cow corner. It falls short of the rope but has more than enough to go for four.
This is brutal. England are taking a kicking.

You can't help but feel that this is the warm-up act and the real nitty gritty will come when Kohli throws the ball to Ashwin.
Jayant 57, Kohli 173
We're seeing Jimmy Anderson much earlier today than yesterday. Like Ball, though, he is not going to get any favours from this pitch. He is consistent in his nagging line and length just outside off but these two batsmen are so established at the crease now they are completely untroubled.

Jayant Yadav is showing it's very good to have experience. He's been playing first class cricket for the last four years. India tend to push players in who have played half a season or just one season and they're not quite there. Those four or five years have added to his experience so when he's come into the Indian team he's looked that much more confident.

This is now the highest eighth wicket partnership at this stadium and the highest eighth wicket stand for India against England.
Kohli continues the assault with a whip to send a Root full-bunger flying to the boundary. Eight boundaries already this morning. The lead is over 100.
India lead by 95 runs
India have played this first 35 minutes magnificently. In such a short space of time they have pretty much eradicated all English hopes of winning the Test and saving the series. Moeen is back on the pitch and able to bowl. India add another three runs to the total.
If ever there was an admission that your plan for the start of the day has not worked, this is it. Joe Root is on. He can't stem the runs, though. Kohli knows there is nobody behind square on the leg side and picks the space with a little steer. Another boundary.
This is like watching the middle overs of a one-day game. The India pair are rotating strike well and hitting every bad ball that comes their way. This is a good over from Moeen - consistent, probing, but ultimately toothless. The over done, the Moeen takes his hat and immediately trots off the pitch, presumably to have a minor injury looked at.

The biggest compliment I can give The Giant this morning is that he's outshining Virat. Virat is just sitting at the other end. Jayant has played cover drives and on drives and pulls.
I feel sorry for Jake Ball here. He is bowling well, but he has nothing to work with and a match situation completely against him. His only lapse is to over-pitch the last ball, which Jayant leans into and cover drives for four. The number nine is taking the lead here and Kohli is more than happy to let him.

India have a team that bat to 11. They have a world class player at number four. Around that they've got class players and good players. All of them can get the side to a good score.
