England won't want to give themselves too much to do at the end, but they have enough in their locker to make sure they are ahead of the rate with five overs to go.

Here come the green-clad fellas with ropes to mop up the dew. They really do love their work. I wouldn't say it was an exact science, but it does the trick.

    England need 203 to win

Hardik Pandya, with blond highlights in his jet black hair, comes in for his second over.

The England batsmen continue to rotate the strike until Root advances down the wicket, Pandya bowls it short and Root pulls it ... it goes over deep square leg, over the boundary and way into the crowd. What a shot - perhaps the strike of the day!

We're at the halfway stage of England's innings - they need 117 from 10 overs to win this series.

Eoin Morgan played a reverse-sweep in the second warm-up game of this tour and was out caught at slip. He's not played it on tour until today when he picked up four for it. I'm interested to know if he consciously put that shot away and why he decided to bring it back out today.

    Eng need 203 to win

The run-rate is creeping up. Lots of pressure on this England pair now. Morgan releases some of that by finding the gap in the covers with a drive off Mishra for four, followed by a well-executed reverse slap for another boundary. He is close to three on the bounce courtesy of another drive, but mid-off scampers round to cut off and save two.

Three further singles make it a good over for the tourists.

Morgan and Root steadied the ship in the first T20 and will be looking to do the same, albeit they need to score big and quick runs today as they do it.

Pandya's first ball strays very slightly onto the leg side and Root punishes him with a big six over the wide long-on boundary. The Indian bowler is much more economical for the rest of the over, conceding just two singles.

Eoin Morgan is out to join Root, who is pinned at the striker's end for two dot balls before a sweep brings the skipper up to face another dot. Excellent stuff from Mishra. Just shows what a wicket can do.

Jason Roy will be disappointed. He was reaching for the ball, against the spin - it would have been a better option to go with the spin. He's distraught, kicking the dust down near the boundary.

    Roy c Dhoni b Mishra 32 (Eng 55-2)

That was a bit of a ugly dismissal for Roy and he knows it. A wide ball from Mishra and the England opener gets down on one knee and looks to slog-sweep but top edges it straight in the air and Dhoni takes an easy catch. Roy looks very frustrated with himself as walks off.

That's a really good over from England's point of view. Joe Root looks in good nick and Jason Roy has hung in there and is putting the boundaries away when the ball is loose.

Mike Tooes: Is Root the right man to come in at 3 here. Could they not have sent a bigger hitter to get the rate down bit

    Eng need 203 to win

For the second time in two T20s, the wickets are hit but the bails are not dislodged. This time it is from a run out as the throw to try and dismiss Root at the non-striker's end clips the stumps but fails to properly break the sticks.

Roy and Root ensure that England keep up with the rate with a dismissive four through mid-wicket from the former, followed by a lofted drive to the rope from the latter. Different approaches but equally effective.

India are hiding Ashish Nehra in the field. Kohli, by contrast, is all-action. He's a real prowler.

Jasprit Bumrah, fresh from his man of the match performance the other night, comes into the attack.

Roy isn't in the mood to show Bumrah any respect as he whacks a pitched-up slower ball back over the bowler's head for a one-bounce four. Root follows suit by leaning back and cutting the ball through to the third man boundary.

Kohli seems to be making a fielding change after every couple of balls - India really want this.

England are not comfortable or convincing. When they chased down a similar total against South Africa in this format, they went after the seamers from the off.

  17. Eng 34-1published at 4 overs

England are playing some fine shots, but are getting their fair share of luck here. Roy hammers Chahal away for four first ball but then inside edges the spinner past his leg stump to pick up two more runs.

India were 29-1 after four. England slightly ahead.

    Much better from England.

First Roy looks to pull Nehra and a bottom edge goes through to fine leg for four. Then Nehra gives Root some width and he elegantly slices it through for another boundary.

Root finishes by dealing with a poor Nehra ball which he pulls for a third four of the over.

Rob Zabrocky: 1.4 overs in, insane 6, golden duck and shambolic run/missed run out. Who says cricket is boring?

  20. Eng 12-1published at 2 overs

It is all happening out there. Root gets a single before Roy whips one through the field that has Mishra diving, getting stuck awkwardly in the pitch and almost allowing the ball to slip away for four.
