That's lovely from Morgan. Decisive, arrogant even, as he rocks back and lofts Nurse over mid-on. One bounce and four and the skipper seems to be getting the measure of the pitch and the Windies bowlers. 24 from the past three overs and England recovering well after the early losses of Roy and Root.

It's good to see that, despite the many factions in the camp, Carlos Brathwaite remains grounded and happy to play for West Indies. It's important to get that buy-in from the players and the game will then grow.

  3. Eng 83-2published at 19 overs

Billings aggressive again, smacking Brathwaite down the ground for another four. Captain Morgan pulls three more to bring up the fifty partnership - 52 from 68 balls with Billings contributing 37 of them.

Thanks very much, Amy. Billings is looking increasingly comfortable here and wallops the first ball of Ashley Nurse's fourth over through mid-wicket for his sixth boundary. That was an ugly full toss from the off-spinner, a real gift. Three further singles make is seven from the over and 25 from Nurse's four overs so far.

Carlos Brathwaite will continue, while up in the dressing room Joe Root stares intently at a laptop, presumably analysing his dismissal. Eoin Morgan comes skipping down the pitch, bat raised like a baseball player, and he ends up pulling at thin air as the ball skids through.

  8. Eng 63-2published at 16 overs

A mixed start for England, then. They lost Jason Roy and Joe Root to deliveries that kept low and, in all honesty, were played badly. Both batsmen were rooted to the crease when they should have been forward. Sam Billings is playing nicely though. He's unbeaten on 35 while Eoin Morgan is there on 9.

Billings is doing a good job. He's unsettling the bowlers because he's playing so many different shots.

This is better from Ashley Nurse, as Sam Billings lines up a sweep wrongly and narrowly avoids edging onto his stumps. A poor bit of fielding from Carlos Brathwaite doesn't help, though - Brathwaite goes to stop the ball with his feet and ends up kicking it away for an extra run. And that'll be drinks.

Did any batsman ever get under your skin, asks Simon Hughes...

"Only once - it was Steve Waugh. He said things to me which cannot be repeated on the radio. He started it, which is never a good idea because as a fast bowler I gave him a hard time. Whatever happened though, we never lost any respect for each other."

    Brathwaite 3-1-7-0

Not the greatest bit of fielding from Jonathan Carter, as he overruns and ends up allowing England a cheeky single. Carlos Brathwaite, having already had a catch dropped off him, is not best pleased. Another quiet over, England just consolidating after losing those early wickets.

    Morgan 7, Billings 31

Spin will continue for the time being, and Sam Billings whips out a lovely reverse sweep to find the boundary. That was excellent - Ashley Nurse deliberately held that ball back a little, seeing the shot coming, and Billings adjusted nicely. Two balls later, the same shot comes out again, and that'll be another boundary. Lovely stuff.

Everyone moaning about no Bairstow needs to look at the team. Who do they suggest to drop? It won't be Morgan as he is captain, Billings is just holding a spot for Hales and everyone else more than deserves their spot regardless of how good Bairstow is.

Jason Holder makes an excellent effort at a diving stop down in the deep and ends up sliding face first into the boundary rope as Carlos Brathwaite leaks his first runs. Never a good look. Brathwaite tightens his line after that early boundary, and Morgan scampers forward a few times but he can't work the ball away.

Off-spinner Ashley Nurse is on, bowling over the wicket. Eoin Morgan tries to paddle-sweep him, gets struck on the pad and there's a pleading yelp from everyone around the wicket. No dice, though. Morgan then adds insult to injury by pulling out the same shot to the next delivery and nabbing a couple of runs.

That's a bad miss. I think he was blindsided by the keeper, who went full to his left. But it should have been taken.

It's come over very dark in Antigua, the wind starting to pick up. In the middle, Eoin Morgan is looking a tad skittish. He comes tip-toeing down the pitch, trying to throw Carlos Brathwaite off his line, but Brathwaite sees him coming. A maiden from Brathwaite first up - and he should have had a wicket.
