  1. SA 93-3published at 15 overs

The heavens have just opened at BBC HQ in Salford for the first of the forecast storms. No such problems on the south coast, though, as Willey returns. He should have a wicket as well as Behardien pulls a short ball that dips over Crane at deep square and goes for four. He had unwisely charged in when holding his ground would have given him a simple catch.

These next five overs need to pretty special if SA are to get a competitive total.

South Africa are struggling to find their timing. Every option they try doesn't come off the middle of the bat and, if it does, it goes to a fielder. AB de Villiers is going to try something soon.

  3. SA 84-3published at 14 overs

    Crane 4-0-24-0

Well bowled young 'un. Mason Crane's first four overs in international cricket are superb. There is one blemish in his last over - a full bunger last ball that AB slaps away to cow for four. That does nothing to diminish his contribution. Take a bow, son.

  4. SA 78-3published at 13.2 overs

Oh, so close. De Villiers goes back and top edges a short ball just over the retreating Roy at mid-off.

Liam Dawson bowled nine dot balls in his four overs and did not concede a boundary.

  7. SA 78-3published at 13 overs

    Dawson 4-0-17-0

Dawson bowls out and extends South Africa's balls without a boundary to 33. AB is frustrated. He completely loses his shape with a wild hack that fails to find the middle of the bat and squirts away for one.

Mason Crane has done a lot of work with Stuart McGill and he reminds me of him too - which is a good things considering McGill took loads of wickets in both domestic and international cricket.

  9. SA 73-3published at 12 overs

Crane is sticking some revs on it and giving the ball plenty of flight. It's working superbly.

    0 1 1 2 1 0. Can't fault a T20 over like that.

  10. SA 68-3published at 11 overs

South Africa taking big risks now. They have to. A quick single to the man at short fine leg would have brought a wicket had the direct throw hit.

These two spinners are doing a sterling job. Dawson gives the tourists nothing to hit and again they have to work primarily in singles.

England's dominance is the exact opposite of how I expected this match to pan out in the first 10 overs on a flat pitch, with the sun out. I thought it'd be a run-fest.

Benjamin: Mason Crane already looks a very good bowler

  13. SA 62-3published at 10 overs

    Behardien 22, De Villiers 27

More fine work from Mason Crane, who finds turn and varies his flight to great effect. Neither of the Proteas batsmen can get a thick bit of the bat on him yet.

England have totally bossed the first half of the SA innings.

  15. SA 55-3published at 9 overs

AB De Villiers plays a shotImage source, PA

Oh, almost four down... twice. AB makes room to play to off and is fortunate that his drive drops just short of Jason Roy at extra. The next ball is played back and just short of bowler Dawson.

Just two singles off the over. England's boot remains on SA's neck.

Mason Crane has a nice, energetic action. He has a nice, side-on position but he needs to keep it tight here so South Africa don't force their way back in.

  17. SA 53-3published at 8 overs

The new lad is on. Mason Crane makes a good start with one that floats to leg and squares up Behardien. He then chucks up a wrong 'un. His third ball is sliced just past short third man for four. All in all, though, a very promising start for the Hampshire youngster. Warm applause from around the ground.

You often see captains go stale, but Eoin Morgan looks very fresh today with his field settings and rotation of his bowlers.

  20. SA 47-3published at 7 overs

Change of pace. On comes the left-arm spinner Liam Dawson. He starts well. Just four singles off the over. AB is simmering. SA need him to boil over.
