  1. NZ 81-2published at 15 overs

Rubel, slightly stockier build, continues and Taylor and Williamson work a couple of singles here and there. Rubel rounds off the over with a corker, the New Zealand captain pushing forward and unable to resist a little feather outside off-stump.

There's plenty of tigers in the crowd today - they certainly outnumber any Kiwis.

  3. NZ 79-2published at 14 overs

    Taylor 8, Williamson 21

There's something really pleasing about Taskin's run up. Rhythmical and bustling at the same time. That's a full toss, though, and Taylor bunts it away to the boundary to get off the mark. And again! A beautiful straight drive, the ball just skipping past the stumps at the non-strikers' and rolling into the ropes.

I don't mind umpires' call going in favour of the bowler since they are actually aiming for the top of the stumps when they deliver the ball. They have so little to aim at.

  5. NZ 70-2published at 13 overs

    Rubel 2-0-9-1

Ball tracking says that dismissal would have been clipping off-stump. And I mean clipping. Williamson seemed pretty sure that was out when Guptill wandered down for a natter; I'm not sure Guptill was convinced. Here's Ross Taylor, and he's greeted to the wicket with a bit of filth from Rubel. Short, high, wide and easily ducked.

That was interesting. It looked a little high and it did jag back. With the tracking element of Hawkeye, I think that will be shown to be going over.

    Guptill lbw b Rubel 33 (NZ 69-2)

Hello! Now then, Martin Guptill has been given out lbw, and I think that might be a tad high. Guptill looks at the pitch for a long time - the ball did nip back in - and, after a conflab with the captain, he's decided to walk off. I'd like to see the ball tracking on that, because to me, that looks like it's going over the top.

Taskin is noticeably the quickest of the Bangladesh bowlers. That over has pressurised New Zealand a little bit.

  9. NZ 62-1published at 12 overs

    Taskin 4-0-16-1

Some late swing from Taskin and Williamson judges it well, turning his head and watching the ball sail perilously over his stumps. This is such a good over, Taskin again getting the ball to swing and Williamson's caught in two minds, to play or not to play, before a big lbw shout is turned down by Nigel Llong. Height is the issue, the ball striking Williamson's thigh.

I like Rubel Hossain. He's like a bulldog - he fights his way to the crease and is a real competitor. He makes the most out of everything he's got.

  11. NZ 61-1published at 11 overs

A change for Bangladesh. It's Rubel Hossain with the ball in hand. He surprises Williamson with a touch of extra pace, encouraging Williamson to nip down the pitch and poke at it suspiciously. Oh and that's so close! Williamson on the drive and the ball flies through a vacant second slip. Dearie me, that would have been a dolly if there'd been a man there. Get another slip in!

Here's what Taskin is capable of, using that extra pace to dismiss Luke Ronchi for 16.

  13. NZ 60-1published at 10 overs

    Guptill 33, Williamson 11

Shot! That's four, Williamson meeting a full ball with a tidy little push, and it's skipped away past the infield and to the rope. He held the pose for good measure, too. Taskin responds nicely, another teasing off stump delivery that Williamson pokes at, before swiping at the ground in annoyance at himself.

Kane Williamson is a class act. He's in excellent form and if you give him any width, he puts you to the sword. He's the dangerman for Bangladesh.

  15. NZ 54-1published at 9 overs

Williamson brings up the 50 with a lovely back foot slice to the boundary. I love watching Williamson bat. He's all poise and balance, high elbows and nice timing. Er, not so much there though, a flat-footed waft outside off stump and the crowd ooh as Mushfiqur dives to collect it. Plenty of Bangladesh support in Cardiff today.

This is a corker of a stroke from Martin Guptill - I suspect that ball is sailing down the River Taff somewhere...

  17. NZ 48-1published at 8 overs

    Taskin 3-0-9-1

Here's Kane Williamson, scores of 100 and 87 to his name in this tournament so far. He's up on tippy-toes to get off the mark, steering the ball down to third man for a single. That's a cracking over from Taskin - two runs and a wicket from it.

That's a good call to bring Taskin into the attack. He surprised Ronchi with pace. He's tall and young and troubles the batsmen if he lands it in the right areas.

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 7.1 overs

    Ronchi c Mustafizur b Taskin 16 (NZ 46-1)

Gone! The extra pace does for Ronchi! A good length from Taskin and Ronchi swung his arms, the ball went flying up into the air towards mid-on, and Mustafizur judged it well. Taskin's pace hurried Ronchi there, he didn't control the shot and got his timing all wrong.
