  1. Surrey 95-1published at 14 overs

Just the one over from Samit Patel, and here's Stuart Broad. Just how fit is he after that heel injury?

The first ball yields a single to Kumar Sangakkara, who Broad engages in a moment of 'banter' as the Sri Lankan reaches his end.

Decent start by Broad, though, just four from the over in total.

  2. WATCH: Stoneman makes Notts pay for droppublished at 12:00 British Summer Time 1 July 2017

Mark Stoneman has looked good for his half-century - but he was given a let off in the eighth over when Steven Mullaney dropped a catch off Harry Gurney's bowling.

Just how costly will that prove to be?...

  3. Surrey 91-1published at 13 overs

    Stoneman 51, Sangakkara 3

You don't often see Kumar Sangakkara play an ungainly stroke, but he is discomfited by an exocet delivery from James Pattinson and can only jab it down on the leg-side. Two balls later and a bouncer flies over the Sri Lankan's head.

It would be a huge filip for Notts if they could send the left-hander packing early, but he pushes a smart single to mid-off to get off strike. It's the only run from an aggressive over by the Aussie paceman.

50 for Mark Stonemanpublished at 12 overs

    Surrey 90-1

Jason Roy's exit brings 'King' Kumar Sangakkara to the crease and he is immediaely under way with a couple of singles. Mark Stoneman uses his feet well as he square cuts for a boundary to bring up a 45-ball half-century, but is beaten by the next one as Samit Patel's opening over comes to an end.

  5. wicket

WICKET Roy (c Mullaney b Patel) 23published at 11.1 overs

    Surrey 83-1

Still no Stuart Broad, here comes Samit Patel with his left-arm spin. Could be risky with Jason Roy on strike. No, it isn't at all - the first one turns a little, takes the outside edge and a catch is offered up which Steven Mullaney cannot help but take. That'll make him feel a little better after his earlier miss.

  6. Surrey 83-0published at 11 overs

    Roy 23, Stoneman 46

James Pattinson digs one in to start his third over, but the unwanted width allows Mark Stoneman to slice it away for four. The Aussie strains for a yorker to Jason Roy, but overdoes the length and the right-hander flips what is actually a low full toss away for a couple.

Pattinson certainly looks the most threatening bowler so far - surely it's time for Stuart Broad to join him in the attack?

  7. 'A sloppy start from Notts'published at 11:42 British Summer Time 1 July 2017

It's been a sloppy start from Nottinghamshire. We've had two dropped catches and a no ball and you wonder if we're going to be talking about that later in the day.

  8. Surrey 74-0published at 10 overs

    Roy 20, Stoneman 41

The final over of the first powerplay and Harry Gurney is unlucky as Mark Stoneman spars unconvincingly at a wide delivery and the ball lands just in front of Riki Wessels at backward point.

Jason Roy goes for a big stroke later in the over, but doesn't middle it and can only take one off a thick inside edge. His timing is certainly awry at the moment.

Billy Root, brother of England Test skipper Joe, trots out for a spot of 12th man duty.

  9. Surrey 69-0published at 9 overs

Mark Stoneman slashes at a wider one from James Pattinson but a good stop at backward point denies him any runs. Similar story next two balls, before Stoneman takes one through the leg-side to end the over.

  10. WATCH: Stoneman hits Fletcher to the boundarypublished at 11:35 British Summer Time 1 July 2017

Mark Stoneman wasn't included in the England squad this morning but he has started well here today, looking the more settled for the two Surrey openers.

Here he is hitting Luke Fletcher to the boundary.

  11. dropped catch

    Surrey 66-0published at 8 overs

Oh dear, what did Notts have for breakfast this morning? Mark Stoneman checks a drive and the ball goes straight through Steven Mullaney's hands at cover. Samit Patel pats him on the head in consolation, but Notts can't afford this fielding profligacy.

"On first sight it appears to be a sitter," says Adam Hollioake on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra. "But looking at the replay Steven Mullaney seems to be looking into the stand which is half full with a lot of white seats and were using a white ball."

  12. Surrey 57-0published at 7 overs

James Pattinson is into the high 80s in terms of speed in his opening over and Jason Roy is fortunate as the ball skews away off the outside edge and he takes a single to third man. Mark Stoneman takes one to end the over to mid-on, but Pattinson has already shown that he is up for this challenge.

  13. Frantic start at Lord'spublished at 11:26 British Summer Time 1 July 2017

    Adam Williams
    BBC Sport at Lord's

It feels like Notts, like many a spectator, haven't quite turned up yet for this final.

Lots of empty seats currently around the ground and quite a few empty looks on the faces of the Outlaws players.

Riki Wessels' dropped catch off the first ball seems to have set a bit of flat tone for the fielding side plus there was an early no ball from Harry Gurney and the odd wide from Luke Fletcher.

Surrey won't mind one bit though after their disappointments at Lord's in the past two years.

  14. Surrey 55-0published at 6.1 overs

Here's James Pattinson and he immediately beats Jason Roy for pace. It's a confident appeal for lbw, but the umpire says no. Video shows it was too high.

  15. Surrey 55-0published at 6 overs

    Mark StonemanImage source, Rex Features

How can Notts stem the tide? Not like that as Mark Stoneman, who obviously favours the off-side, plunders another boundary off the front foot. A square cut to the rope brings up the 50 partnership, but it's a false shot to end the over as Stoneman fails to make contact with an attempted pull and collects a leg bye.

  16. Surrey 43-0published at 5 overs

    Roy 17, Stoneman 19

Interesting that Notts have chosen not to start with their two quickest bowlers, James Pattinson and Stuart Broad, but Luke Fletcher continues and beats the edge as Mark Stoneman attempts a cut.

A single to Stoneman brings Jason Roy back onto strike, and he hammers the ball square off the back for his first four.

He follows it with another, far less convincing as the ball flies away uppishly through the off-side, and adds a third by flicking it away behind square.

  17. WATCH: Roy dropped off first ball of the matchpublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 1 July 2017

It's probably fair to say it's not been the easiest summer so far for England ODI and T20 opener Jason Roy.

And it should have got a lot worse this morning, if only Riki Wessels hadn't dropped this straightforward catch at first slip off the very first ball of the match.

  18. Surrey 30-0published at 4 overs

Jason Roy opens his shoulders but can't beat the fielder at mid-off. He takes a couple through mid-wicket from the next delivery, prompting Harry Gurney to switch to round the wicket. Roy can make nothing of the next four - and that's a much better over for Notts. Just two from it.

  19. 'Today is Surrey's day'published at 11:13 British Summer Time 1 July 2017

    Adam Hollioake
Former Surrey captain on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

Notts do have the experience in the middle order but Surrey have got a couple of big match players. Kumar Sangakkara is in fairly good form and I think the confidence that he's omitting down the Surrey side will pay off.

I think today is Surrey's day, they've been here twice and you do learn from having been here before. Once they win today they will go on to win a lot more.

  20. Surrey 28-0published at 3 overs

    Roy 3, Stoneman 18

It's a fast outfield at Lord's and Notts seamer Luke Fletcher has reason to feel feel aggrieved as Mark Stoneman pushes forward without aggressive intent and ball runs down the hill through the covers for four.

It's a perfectly respectable over, which ends with Fletcher rapping Stoneman on the pads, but it's still cost Notts 10. Good start this by Surrey.
