Summary

  • Notts reach 298-6 with 13 balls to spare to win the trophy

  • Hales (187*) makes highest score in a Lord's final

  • The England opener was dropped on nine

  • Surrey made 297-9 after skipper Batty opted to bat first

  • Stoneman hits 144* after missing out on Test selection

  1. Surrey 281-7published at 48 overs

Mark Stoneman may only have struck 12 boundaries in his 140, but his running between the wickets has been absolutely immense, typified by a brilliant two at the start of that latest over

His score here is also his best-ever in List A cricket, passing his previous best of 136 not out against Scotland for Durham in 2012.

    Twelve to go...

  2. Not outpublished at 47.2 overs

    Surrey 279-7

And it most certainly did bounce first, so Gareth Batty remains. In fairness to Chris Read, there was no real appeal, more an asking of the question to check.

    On we go...

  3. Umpire reviewpublished at 47.2 overs

    Surrey 279-7

Now then, has Gareth Batty nicked the ball behind? Chris Read takes the catch, but we're having a look to see if it bounced first...

  5. Surrey 276-7published at 47 overs

    Stoneman 136, Batty 10

Interestingly, both batsmen actually show a little more adventure facing England quick Stuart Broad, who sees a loose delivery chopped away for four - although substitute fielder Billy Root is guilty of a poor error on the rope.

Harry Gurney replaces Luke Fletcher, 18 balls to go...

  6. 'Notts have really stuck at it'published at 14:12 British Summer Time 1 July 2017

    Adam Hollioake
Former Surrey captain on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

Nottinghamshire have really stuck at it today because I get a feeling that this is a good wicket especially for facing the quicker bowlers.

  7. Surrey 268-7published at 46 overs

Luke Fletcher is back for a little bowl then, very much your classic county seamer doing the hard yards for his team.

What surprises me here is almost the lack of ambition from Gareth Batty and Mark Stoneman, wandering through for the singles Notts will be more than happy to limit them to.

    Six come from that over.

  8. 'Tom Curran sacrificed himself'published at 14:07 British Summer Time 1 July 2017

    James Taylor
Ex-England batsman on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

They were running so well all day but that was almost one too many. Tom Curran felt he couldn't get back and was left stranded and sacrificed himself and rightly so, doing the right thing for his side.

A shame for Surrey, that partnership was big in getting up to 300 or 310.

  9. Surrey 262-7published at 45 overs

Surrey skipper Gareth Batty joins Mark Stoneman in the middle and immediately gets a healthy dose of good fortune from his second ball, edging Stuart Broad past Chris Read for four. Fortunate.

Five overs to go. Luke Fletcher is on.

  10. WATCH: Sam Curran bowled by James Pattinsonpublished at 14:04 British Summer Time 1 July 2017

Every cricket fan loves to see a fast bowler beating a batsman all ends up with a quick delivery that clatters into the stumps.

You can watch James Pattinson doing exactly that to Sam Curran below...

  11. wicket

WICKET T Curran (run out) 16published at 44.3 overs

    Surrey 255-7

Oh Tom Curran, what've you done here?

The recently-capped England T20 international clips Stuart Broad away and runs a speedy single but, despite Mark Stoneman's calls for a second, is hesitant and both batsmen end up at the bowler's end.

Curran, however, had strayed from his ground and so he's the man to go - which is probably just as well for Surrey, who still have Mark Stoneman unbeaten on 126.

  12. Surrey 254-6published at 44 overs

Well bowled, Samit Patel. After two leaky overs in succession he limits his final set to just five runs for figures of 3-51.

Now then, how are we sharing the remaining six overs? Stuart Broad has three to bowl, while Harry Gurney, Luke Fletcher and Steven Mullaney are all options from the other end.

  13. Surrey 249-6published at 43 overs

It's another decent over for Surrey, 11 from it. James Pattinson is clearly pumped - his fourth ball very nearly a beamer, which Tom Curran smartly pulls away for four.

Pattinson finishes with figures of 1-48.

  14. 'Mighty talented but no footwork'published at 13:52 British Summer Time 1 July 2017

    James Taylor
Ex-England batsman on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

Nice bit of bowling there from James Pattinson, coming round the wicket, good pace, angling into the stumps.

It was poor footwork from young Sam Curran who's inexperienced at this stage.

Mighty talented, but no footwork there was his undoing.

  15. Surrey 238-6published at 42 overs

That's a good over for Surrey having just lost Sam Curran, 10 coming from it, the final four of which were courtesy of a nicely-guided cut down to third man from Mark Stoneman.

James Pattinson is on for his final set.

  16. WATCH: Mark Stoneman brings up his centurypublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 1 July 2017

The very impressive Mark Stoneman has been the glue that's held this Surrey innings together.

He's had a bit of luck along the way and he got some here as he brought up his century...

  17. 'Wrestling back that initiative'published at 13:47 British Summer Time 1 July 2017

    James Taylor
Ex-England batsman on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

Nottinghamshire have had some good overs in the middle overs, taking those crucial wickets, stemming the flow of runs and wrestling back that initiative.

  18. Surrey 228-6published at 41 overs

    James PattinsonImage source, Rex Features

James Pattinson is really steaming in here, twice beating the outside edge of Tom Curran without reward. Of the Nottinghamshire quicks, he's looked the pick I'd say.

Is Mark Stoneman in danger of running out of partners?

Big Samit Patel's on his way back...

  19. wicket

    WICKET S Curran (b Pattinson) 24published at 40.4 overs

    Surrey 228-6

    Got him!

Sam Curran is done for pace - all 87mph or so of it - by Australia's James Pattinson, who clatters his timbers and breaks what was looking a crucial partnership for Surrey.

Curran and Mark Stoneman, still going on 115, had shared 48 for the sixth wicket.

Out goes Sam Curran, in comes brother Tom.

  20. Surrey 225-5published at 40 overs

    Stuart BroadImage source, Rex Features

Stuart Broad lets out a cry of "NO!" as another tight delivery is worked away for a single. For as tidily as he's bowled, 11 runs have now come from his last two overs. Ever the competitor, he's cutting a frustrated figure at Lord's.

    Ten more overs to come.
