  1. 'Hameed plays around his front pad'published at 18:08 British Summer Time 28 June 2017

    Warwickshire 321 v Lancashire 273 & 56-2

    Stephan Shemilt
    BBC Sport at Edgbaston

Haseeb Hameed was starting to look like the player who impressed so much during England's tour of India. However, he sometimes plays around his front pad and here he has come unstuck to Rikki Clarke.

That's no first-class half-century this season. He has left the selectors with a decision to make.

  2. rain stops play

Play abandoned at Durhampublished at 18:08 British Summer Time 28 June 2017

Durham 197 v Worcestershire 367 - no play Wednesday, rain

    Yep, it's off at Chester-le-Street.

It hasn't stopped raining all day. They'll go again tomorrow.

  3. wicket

WICKET Hameed (lbw b Clarke) 23published at 18:07 British Summer Time 28 June 2017

    Warwickshire 321 v Lancashire 273 & 55-2

Nope. It is just not happening for Haseeb Hameed this season.

The young Lancashire batsmen was struggling to get the ball away and Rikki Clarke has pinned him lbw to end his stay at the crease. There's surely no chance he's going to be in England's Test side against South Africa next week.

  4. Breakthrough at Hovepublished at 18:04 British Summer Time 28 June 2017

    Division Two update

Gloucestershire opener Chris Dent is out for 21, top-edging Sussex seamer Abidine Sakande to mid-wicket - the visitors are 68-1.

Northants captain Alex Wakely has just gone to fifty at Wantage Road - his side are 97-3 and lead Leicestershire by 201.

No wickets for Notts yet - they need six more to give themselves a chance of victory over Kent. The visitors are 116-4, still requiring 75 to make Notts bat again.

Play has just resumed in Cardiff between Glamorgan and Derbyshire, and there is still no sign of play between Durham and Worcestershire.

John Poole: Great to see Cook in blistering form, especially in an Ashes year. He's broke the shackles since stepping down as captain

  6. Hameed finds the boundarypublished at 17:56 British Summer Time 28 June 2017

    Warwickshire 321 v Lancashire 273 & 42-1

Haseeb Hameed is searching for form, and he's not exactly the quickest of scorers at the best of times.

He got off the mark earlier with a boundary, but he's taken a while to repeat the trick, hitting his 68th delivery to the fence at Edgbaston. He has 19, while Alex Davies is 22 not out.

  7. Essex go to 300 in stylepublished at 17:53 British Summer Time 28 June 2017

    Essex 303-0 v Middlesex 246

Alastair Cook takes Essex to 300 in style, smashing three fours off a Tim Murtagh over.

He has 170. Nick Browne is 127 not out. Middlesex's new ball is doing nothing. It's gun-barrel straight out there at Chelmsford.

  8. Inexperience not showingpublished at 17:51 British Summer Time 28 June 2017

    Hampshire 211-9 dec v Somerset 60-1

Somerset's pair at the crease aren't exactly blessed with experience. Eddie Byrom is on debut and Adam Hose is playing his third County Championship match. They have just 125 runs in the competition between them.

You couldn't tell though. Both are batting solidly at the Ageas Bowl against the very experienced attack of Gareth Berg and Kyle Abbott.

  9. Play starts at Trent Bridgepublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 28 June 2017

    Notts 371 v Kent 180 & 106-4

They're under way in Nottingham - but Sam Billings who was 39 not out overnight for Kent isn't at the crease.

He's joined up with England Lions, so Joe Weatherley takes his place alongside Will Gidman.

  10. Another record in Essex's sightspublished at 17:45 British Summer Time 28 June 2017

    Essex 287-0 v Middlesex 246

Alastair Cook and Nick Browne are very much enjoying their day as they approach a 300-run opening stand. The next landmark in their sights is Essex's record opening stand.

The number they're after is 316, set by Graham Gooch and Paul Pritchard against Kent at Chelmsford in 1994. You wouldn't bet against them would you?

Paul Cotterill: In the cricket it's now conceivable that Essex could beat Middlesex by an innings without losing a single wicket. Ever been done?

Still a long way to go Paul. Let's not get ahead of ourselves!

  12. 150 runs

150 for Cookpublished at 17:36 British Summer Time 28 June 2017

    Essex 278-0 v Middlesex 246

Toby Roland-Jones bowls a half-volley to Alastair Cook. You know what comes next: the ball is punched back down the ground for four and Cook has 152 to his name.

It's his highest score of the season and comes from 220 balls and contains 21 fours. Great batting Chef.

Alex Davies and Haseeb Hameed are moving cautiously at a gloomy Edgbaston, where Rikki Clarke and Boyd Rankin are keeping things tight.

  14. 'Cricket at last'published at 17:29 British Summer Time 28 June 2017

    Sussex 358-9 dec v Gloucestershire 52-0

    Adrian Harms
    Sports reporter, BBC Sussex

After yesterday's washout and just 11 balls in the opening session we could be in for a prolonged period of play at Hove.

The pitch still looks a good one despite being under the covers for the last couple of days, and Cameron Bancroft and Chris Dent have added an unbroken half century partnership for the first wicket.

  15. Play at the Ageas Bowlpublished at 17:26 British Summer Time 28 June 2017

    Hampshire 211-9 dec v Somerset 48-1

Kyle Abbott bowls the first over of the day at the Ageas Bowl after a long old delay.

Eddie Byrom, on debut, takes a single before Adam Hose finds the boundary. Having been frustrated by the weather, Somerset will hope to build on their position now.

    Glamorgan 237 v Derbyshire 288 & 2-0

Play will get under way at 18:00 BST in Cardiff.

It means we'll have play at seven grounds. Great effort from the groundstaff.

  17. New ball taken at Chelmsfordpublished at 17:22 British Summer Time 28 June 2017

    Essex 257-0 v Middlesex 246

Will this make any difference for Middlesex? They've got a new (pink) cherry to bowl with.

Alastair Cook is approaching his 150. Can Tim Murtagh stop him from reaching the landmark?

  18. Resumption at Wantage Roadpublished at 17:18 British Summer Time 28 June 2017

    Northants 261 & 60-3 v Leicestershire 157

They're off and running at Northants. Alex Wakely and Rob Keogh resume their innings 24 hours after being forced off.

Play is also about to start at the Ageas Bowl.

  20. Someone get him a pack of custard creams...published at 17:16 British Summer Time 28 June 2017

    Warwickshire 321 v Lancashire 273 & 30-1

    Stephan Shemilt
    BBC Sport at Edgbaston

Huge, huge controversy at Edgbaston. The (very) large biscuit barrel that usually sits in the press lounge has gone missing, replaced by a much smaller one.

A member of the catering staff says she doesn't know where it has gone, that its absence is as much of a surprise to her as anyone. A devilish mystery that demands answers.
