  1. wicket

    WICKET Morgan c T Curran b Batty 32published at 11.3 overs

    Middlesex 67-4 (target 157)

Right now this is not looking good for Middlesex at all.

Eoin Morgan tries to take the game by the scruff of the neck and goes for the boundary, only to find Tom Curran.

Curran puts his hands out like a footballer celebrating scoring in the FA Cup final.

  2. Middlesex 67-3 (target 157)published at 11 overs

There's only so much I can really say about what's going on The Oval pitch, which quiet frankly is not an awful lot.

Bowler comes in. Morgan or Franklin dab it away for a single or a dot.

At this point Surrey were 88-3.

  3. Middlesex 61-3 (target 157)published at 10 overs

Finally this pair try to get a strangehold on this match. James Franklin sweeps Gareth Batty away for four.

But just two more runs come from the over. At this rate, Middlesex will be well short. They need 94 from 60 balls.

  4. Middlesex 55-3 (target 157)published at 9 overs

It's just not working for Eoin Morgan and James Franklin at the moment. At All. Just four runs from that over.

  5. Essex make quick startpublished at 20:47 British Summer Time 21 July 2017

Essex have lost Varun Chopra but are still rattling along against Hampshire. They're already 39-1 in the fourth over and need just another 86 from 16 overs to win.

Elsewhere, the smart money wouldn't have been on Derbyshire at the interval when Nottinghamshire racked up 227 at Trent Bridge but the visitors have reached 133-2 in the 12th over. Wayne Madsen (42 not out) and Luis Reece (27 not out) are going well.

In the shortened game at Cardiff, Sussex have reached 23-2 after three overs with six overs left.

  6. Middlesex 51-3 (target 157)published at 8 overs

We've got spin for the first time in this innings. Gareth Batty, the man to do so much damage when these two met last week in a vein cause, comes to the fore.

Nine come from that over, including a couple of wides. It's all a bit quiet at the Oval. They want to see some fireworks.

  7. wicket

WICKET Stirling c Finch b Meaker 6published at 6.2 overs

    Middlesex 39-3 (target 157)

Paul Stirling goes for broke but can only find Stuart Meaker in the deep. At the moment everything is going in Surrey's favour.

He faced six balls and scored six runs. James Franklin comes in to bat.

  8. Middlesex 38-2 (target 157)published at 6 overs

Paul Stirling can barely move anything other than his arms. But he still manages to hit a four, which given is more than most of us could do in his state.

    That's the powerplay over.

  9. Birmingham top order blown awaypublished at 20:35 British Summer Time 21 July 2017

    Around the grounds

Birmingham Bears are struggling badly against Yorkshire. They're now five down in the eighth over with England bowlers past and present, Tim Bresnan, David Willey and Adil Rashid among the wickets.

Billy Godleman started well but has gone for a very good 43 from 19 balls for Derbyshire against Notts. His side are chasing a massive 228 though and need someone to match the impressive 110 made by Riki Wessels. Derbyshire are 76-2 after 7 overs.

Meanwhile, Leicestershire have lost Cameron Delport for 30, chasing 166 at Northants. The hosts are 66-2.

  10. wicket

    WICKET Malan c Meaker b S Curran 12published at 4.3 overs

    Middlesex 26-2 (target 157)

    Sam CurranImage source, Getty Images

Dawid Malan goes for the big for but just picks out Stuart Meaker at deep mid-wicket. Pinpoint hitting the fielder there from Malan.

Paul Stirling comes to the crease but he is clearly injured and needs a runner - Brendon McCullum is back out.

  11. Middlesex 25-1 (target 157)published at 4 overs

Tom Curran comes into the Surrey bowling attack, replacing his brother, and his first ball is hit for four by Dawid Malan to mid-wicket.

But only few more singles follow for the rest of the over.

  12. Good starts for Derbyshire and Leicestershirepublished at 20:24 British Summer Time 21 July 2017

    Around the grounds

Chasing a massive 228, Derbyshire have made a decent start in reaching 61-1 after five overs. Billy Godleman has been the aggressor with 34.

Leicestershire are also going well in their bid to make 166 to beat Northants. Cameron Delport is on the charge in making 25 as Leicestershire reach 38-0 after five overs.

Hampshire have finished their innings against Essex and have been restricted to 124-9. That looks a low total.

  13. Middlesex 17-1 (target 157)published at 3 overs

Finally a boundary for Middlesex as Eoin Morgan pounces on a short ball from Jade Dernbach, and the England captain smacks the ball away for four.

That was clearly a sighter as he smashes the next ball for six straight down the ground. He didn't even bother starting to run.

  14. Middlesex 6-1 (target 157)published at 2 overs

Eoin Morgan comes in to replace the Kiwi but it's another excellent over for Surrey as only four runs come off it.

Meanwhile, Brendon McCullum doesn't look particularly happy the camera is getting in his face...

  15. wicket

WICKET McCullum c Roy b Dernbach 0published at 1 over

    Middlesex 2-1 (target 157)

Brendon McCullum had tried to attack Jade Dernbach's first over, missed a couple of deliveries and then, after a single and a leg bye, swung at the final delivery.

He hit it right in the air and Jason Roy fumbles but holds onto the ball.

  18. 'Surrey can defend this'published at 20:05 British Summer Time 21 July 2017

Surrey set Middlesex 157 to win

    James Taylor
Ex-England batsman on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

I think on this wicket and with this outfield, Surrey can defend this.

They would have wanted more and could have got more but credit must go to the to Middlesex bowlers and fielders.

They took wickets when they needed them. They did an excellent job once that first five overs were out of the way.

What do you make of that?

Surrey started off like a steam train but then the hosts were pegged back well by Middlesex.

The middle period of that innings was as strange as I've seen for a long time. Not how KP planned it.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 20 overs

    Sibley c Simpson b Roland-Jones 23 (Surrey 156-7)

A nick through to the keeper on the final ball.

    Surrey end on 156.
