  1. wicket

    Sangakkara c Morgan b Sowter 18 (Surrey 95-4)

    Sangakkara gone! Big moment!

Just after I big the Sri Lankan up, he comes down the pitch and tries to whack leg-spinner Sowter for six over the leg side.

He doesn't get all of it though and lofts an easy catch to Eoin Morgan at long on.

  2. 100 runs

100 up for Wesselspublished at 19:28 British Summer Time 21 July 2017

    Around the grounds

Riki Wessels, take a bow. He has just become the first ever Notts batsman to hit a century in a T20 match for the county.

It's come up with 11 fours and six sixes from 50 balls. Notts are 155-2 and we've not even reached 15 overs.

The highest scoring Notts batsman before this? Wessels himself with 97.

  3. Surrey 95-3published at 12 overs

Kumar Sangakkara just does not age. Steve Finn is bowling very quick tonight but the Sanga just stands back in his crease and pulls over square leg for four. Effortless.

For all the funky shots of modern T20 cricket, it doesn't get much better than that.

Still, Finn finishes his four overs with one wicket for 19 runs. Very good figures.

  4. dropped catch

McCullum drops Sibleypublished at 11 overs

Down! More leg spin from Sowter and he finds Sibley's edge but Brendon McCullum puts down a low chance at slip.

Now there's embarrassment for Dawid Malan in the deep. He's beaten by the spin of a shot from Sangakkara, as he runs past the ball and then slips.

Four more to the Sri Lankan. Cue cheers from the Surrey faithful.

The run out and then picking up an injury at the same time was a nightmare for Kevin Pietersen and for Surrey.

They were flying and back-to-back wickets has hampered them.

It was very generous of Brendon McCullum to let him have a runner because he came into the game with an injury and he has done the same injury.

  6. Surrey 80-3published at 10 overs

After all that KP commotion it has gone a little under the radar how well Middlesex have come back into this. Surrey were on 68 when they lost their first wicket in the seventh over.

Dominic Sibley is the new man.

  7. Leicestershire to stay on top?published at 19:18 British Summer Time 21 July 2017

    Around the grounds

Leicestershire are the only side in this year's T20 Blast to have a 100% record intact and they are doing their best to keep it that way against East Midlands rivals Northants.

Richard Levi is the latest man to have fallen, for 41, which will be a personal morale boost for him after a fairly difficult period following his hospitalisation - but after 11 overs Northants are 80-4.

Elsewhere, Riki Wessels (83) is continuing to have fun for Notts against Derbyshire.

But Yorkshire's David Willey has been run out when he was on 70 against Birmingham - as the hosts are currently 129-3.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 9.3 overs

    Pietersen c Roland-Jones b Finn 4 (Surrey 79-3)

    The Pietersen show is over!

Clearly struggling, he's out in the tamest of fashion. He's just lobbed the ball in the air for a simple catch at mid-wicket.

KP was involved in a run-out, then called for a runner and is out for four. Not the night he had planned.

  9. Surrey 77-2published at 9 overs

    Pietersen 3 Sangakkara 5

It looks like Pietersen is just going to try and hit boundaries as he is playing with a runner but he's yet to find the middle.

Kumar Sangakkara is class. With all this commotion going on he's happy to knock the ball into the outfield and collect twos to keep the scoreboard ticking.

  10. Surrey 70-2published at 8 overs

    Pietersen 1 Sangakkara

Three more dots to Pietersen. He's visibly struggling with that calf injury.

Finally the former England batsman gets off the mark with an edge down to third man as Jason Roy does the running for him.

Nervy start from KP. He's already been involved in a run out which saw the back of Aaron Finch who was whacking it to all parts...

  11. Surrey 69-2published at 7.2 overs

This is really remarkable stuff. Brendon McCullum has pulled his full team together in the middle to speak to his players.

After a lengthy stoppage we're going to get back under way with a clearly injured Kevin Pietersen on nought and Kumar Sangakkara yet to face a ball.

Add in the confusion of a runner. This could be fun.

  12. Surrey 69-2published at 7.2 overs

Kevin Pietersen is playing in this match after having a fitness test on a calf injury before play. I think that has influenced his decision not to run.

He's now asked for a runner. Crazy. Brendon McCullum very sportingly has accepted and that means Jason Roy has to get his pads back on and head back out.

Tonight is clearly a night for batting.

Yorkshire's David Willey reaches a half century off 27 balls with his sixth six as Yorkshire reach 103-2 after 11 overs.

Notts batsman Riki Wessels, meanwhile also reaches his fifty and survives a seemingly fairly straightforward catch chance for Derbyshire fielder Billy Godleman on the ropes. Notts are currently on 83-2.

Meanwhile, the last match of the evening, Essex's game with Hampshire has just begun.

  14. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 7.2 overs

Finch run out 40 (Surrey 69-1)

Kevin Pietersen out in the middle and he's in the action straight away.

Aaron Finch wants a single but Pietersen doesn't move. Finch doesn't have a hope of getting back and is run out well short.

    The Aussie is fuming.

It was great awarenes by Dawid Malan to get himself set on the boundary, but that wicket came because Nathan Sowter was bowling a tight over.

    Middlesex needed that breakthrough.

  16. wicket

    Roy c Malan b Sowter 29 (Surrey 68-1)

    Jason RoyImage source, Getty Images

Spin into the attack for the first time and it brings a wicket!

Nathan Sowter gets Jason Roy caught on the fine leg boundary. It was good bowling from the leggie. He built pressure with a few dots and Jason Roy couldn't resist going for the big sweep.

Dawid Malan did not have to move in the deep.

  17. Willey leading the way for Yorkiespublished at 18:57 British Summer Time 21 July 2017

    Around the grounds

The Open is on this week and Yorkshire batsman David Willey has certainly taken some inspiration, teeing off against Birmingham at Headingley.

Willey has hit three fours and four sixes so far in a 16-ball 38 to lead his side to 75-2 after seven overs.

Meanwhile Northants opener Richard Levi - playing in his first senior match after being hospitalised when he was struck in the head with a ball in May - is leading the charge for his side against Leicestershire - so far with 23 runs as they stand 37-1.

  18. Surrey 66-0published at 6 overs

Six more! Not the textbook drive of Aaron Finch but the unconventional scoop of Jason Roy. That's a remarkable shot over the fielder at short fine leg.

Middlesex skipper Brendon McCullum has a word with his bowler Toby Roland-Jones, telling him where he wants the ball bowled.

A decent comeback from the bowler. Just five from the final five balls of the over but Surrey have 66 after the first Powerplay.

This is unbelievable stuff from Surrey. I normally say at the end of the Powerplay that you want to be around the 50 mark and they are already there.

  20. Surrey 55-0published at 5 overs

    Roy 20 Finch 35

Another bowling change as James Franklin comes into the attack.

It is not the best of starts from the left-armer as he lobs the ball up on a length and gets hit for four over mid off followed by a big six a ball later.

That went way back. The Oval crowd are loving this.
