  1. wicket

WICKET Sibley b Zaidi 12published at 12.4 overs

    Surrey 103-4 v Essex

Far from fluent from Dom Sibley tonight. An edge finds a boundary but he's cleaned up by a quicker ball from Ashar Zaidi.

  2. Surrey 98-3 v Essexpublished at 12 overs

A few moments now just running for Essex as a leading edge squirms past Mohammed Amir at short third man. But it's a pretty good over from Ravi Bopara with three dot balls.

  3. 6 runs

    Surrey 92-3 v Essexpublished at 11 overs

Typically enough having been dropped, Kevin Pietersen finds a huge over and takes Simon Harmer for four sixes, three of them finding the stands.

  4. dropped catch

    Dropped catchpublished at 10 overs

    Surrey 66-3

Kevin Pietersen gets a huge life. Trying to pull Ashar Zaidi's left-arm spin he picks out deep midwicket but Dan Lawrence spills a pretty straightforward chance - could be a big miss with Pietersen only on 12.

But another great over for Essex and at the halfway stage, Surrey are need of some go-forward.

  5. Surrey 61-3 v Essexpublished at 9 overs

Three of the big-gun top four gone now for Surrey and Essex will be delighted.

  6. wicket

WICKET Sangakkara c Walter b Harmer 8published at 8.3 overs

    Surrey 60-3 v Essex

    Simon HarmerImage source, Rex Features

Another big strike for Essex and Simon Harmer has come up with it. Kumar Sangakkara sweeps off a top edge and it's a splendid catch by Paul Walter running around the deep square boundary looking into the sun too.

  7. Surrey 59-2 v Essexpublished at 8 overs

Ravi Bopara - who, in what seems like a previous life, dismissed Kevin Pietersen in this fixture several moons ago - sends down a tidy over of his wobblers. Essex have dragged this innings back very well after those first four overs, just one boundary in the previous four sets.

  8. Surrey 53-2 v Essexpublished at 7 overs

Simon Harmer comes on - his off-spin has been leading Essex's charge in the County Championship this season. Kevin Pietersen lines up his countryman and reverse-sweeps his first boundary back in England.

  9. Worcestershire post 186-5published at 18:57 British Summer Time 19 July 2017

We're at the interval at New Road where Worcestershire have posted 186-5 to set Derbyshire a stern target.

That target was helped by some lusty late hitting from John Hastings who smacked four, six and another maximum from the only three balls he faced.

  10. Surrey 45-2 v Essexpublished at 6 overs

That's the Powerplay done and in the end Essex will be delighted. Just five runs from the last two overs.

  11. 'He's bowling international stuff'published at 18:55 British Summer Time 19 July 2017

That was a quality piece of bowling from Mohammad Amir. You could see the shape of it as it drifted away and took the edge of Aaron Finch.

It's as though Mohammed Amir has looked at the Surrey top four of Roy, Finch, Pietersen and Sangakkara and is bowling international stuff.

  12. Surrey 41-2 v Essexpublished at 5 overs

A really good over from Mohammed Amir to get Essex back into this Powerplay after a blistering first four overs. Two huge wickets back in the shed.

  13. wicket

WICKET Finch c Foster b Amir 21published at 5 overs

    Surrey 41-2 v Essex

Lovely piece of bowling. Sliding across the right-handed Aaron Finch who gets a little edge through to wicketkeeper James Foster. International batting line-up and Mohammed Amir responds with an international-class over.

  14. wicket

WICKET: Roy hit wicket Amir 17published at 4.2 overs

    Surrey 40-1 v Essex

Just what Essex needed. A delivery at the pads from Mohammed Amir has Jason Roy trying to clip it away but he flicks his own leg stump!

    Out comes Kevin Pietersen...

  15. '200 is not enough'published at 18:47 British Summer Time 19 July 2017

Even my maths tells me that if they go along like this Surrey will get 200.

But that's not enough. I think on this pitch they need 240.

  16. Surrey 40-0 v Essexpublished at 4 overs

    Jason RoyImage source, Rex Features

Another bowling change as the left-armer Paul Walter takes over. Jason Roy steps across the off stump to hit the first ball for four past short fine leg and then Aaron Finch finds four more with a pull stroke.

Essex need a wicket. This pair added a century stand for the first wicket against Kent last time out.

  17. Surrey 31-0 v Essexpublished at 3 overs

Just the one over for Ashar Zaidi as Ravi Bopara takes over at the Vauxhall End. Aaron Finch finds the gap behind square with a nice piece of timing and a back foot punch brings four more.

Bopara then goes too full and Finch launches into an off-drive that clears the rope. Great start for Surrey now.

  18. Notts' Lumb forced to retirepublished at 18:37 British Summer Time 19 July 2017

Some breaking news for you. Nottinghamshire have announced that batsman Michael Lumb has had to retire with immediate effect because of an ankle injury.

Lumb was part of England's World T20-winning team in 2010 and played 27 T20 internationals and three One-Day internationals.

He also helped Notts win the One-Day Cup against Surrey at Lord's at the start of the month.

  19. Surrey 16-0 v Essexpublished at 2 overs

Mohammed Amir back on at the end where he caused all that damage in the Champions Trophy final for Pakistan. Jason Roy slaps him through extra-cover for his third boundary and then survives a big lbw shout that he probably got an inside edge to.

  20. Surrey 12-0 v Essexpublished at 1 over

Ashar Zaidi surprisingly opening the bowling for Essex with his part-time spin . Unfortunately he sends down a long-hop that Jason Roy whacks to the fence.

Not a lot that can be done about his reverse sweep that brings a second boundary over short third man.
