  4. Toss: Essex win and will field firstpublished at 18:26 British Summer Time 19 July 2017

    Surrey v Essex (18.30 BST)

Ryan ten Doeschate calls correctly and decides Essex will field first - meaning Surrey will bat first for the fifth time in succession in this year's T20.

The first two of those games were won - including beating Essex by just two runs at Chelmsford - but Surrey have failed to defend in their last two games, Kent gunning down 205 to win at the Oval last time out.

Surrey: Aaron Finch, Jason Roy, Kumar Sangakkara, Kevin Pietersen, Dom Sibley, Ollie Pope, Sam Curran, Tom Curran, Gareth Batty (c), Stuart Meaker, Jade Dernbach

Essex: Dan Lawrence, Varun Chopra, Tom Westley, Ravi Bopara, Adam Wheater, Ryan ten Doeschate (c), Ashar Zaidi, James Foster, Paul Walter, Simon Harmer, Mohammad Amir

  5. Essex love Kenningtonpublished at 18:24 British Summer Time 19 July 2017

    Surrey v Essex (18.30)

Essex will know the attention at the Oval tonight will be on one man but they will hope to throw a spanner in the works of headline writers by continuing their wonderful T20 record at the Oval. They have won their last four matches on the ground and have triumphed in SE11 eight times from 12 T20s in total.

They need the points too after winning just one of their opening four matches, including an opening night defeat by Surrey and failing to defend a mighty 219 at home to Glamorgan.

Essex have qualified for the quarter-finals in each of the past five seasons but defeat tonight would leave them needing six wins from their final nine matches to be in the mix for another top-four spot.

  6. Pietersen's poor recordpublished at 18:22 British Summer Time 19 July 2017

Kevin Pietersen has a much better record in T20s abroad than in England

Big name star he may be but Kevin Pietersen actually has a very modest T20 record for Surrey with 348 runs at 23.20 in 21 matches and a top score of only 42. His last two innings against Essex have been just 5 and 1.

Compare that with much better returns for several teams abroad including 884 runs at 40.18 in 25 matches for Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League and a best of 76.

Pietersen has often said the fragmented nature of the T20 competition in England is not good for him so will a change back to a block of matches produce better results?

  7. Clarke gets Worcestershire off to a flierpublished at 18:20 British Summer Time 19 July 2017

As we mentioned, there is already cricket under way at New Road where Worcestershire are facing Derbyshire.

With six overs to go in their innings, the home side are 114-4, thanks mainly to Joe Clarke's 42 off 18 balls.

Here you can see him playing a ramp shot for six. If you want to follow further highlights or listen to radio commentary from that one, you can find them here.

Kevin Pietersen has played for 11 different T20 teams around the world

Perhaps the most divisive cricketer ever to play in England. He's wowed fans and frustrated administrators and captains in equal measure. And now he's back for one final hurrah.

Kevin Pietersen arrived in English cricket in 2001 and was the dominant figure of the game for a decade from 2004. People who didn't know cricket knew KP. He changed the game in many ways.

Whatever you think of him, you can't miss Pietersen. And this, he says, is the start of his final stint playing in England. Catch him while you can.
