  1. McLaren survives big appealpublished at 16:38 British Summer Time 14 September 2017

    Lancashire 133 & 192-5 f/o (92 overs) v Somerset 335

Spinner Jack Leach is back into the Somerset attack with the new ball just a few overs old.

He'll be looking to add to his seven wickets in the match sharpish with Lancashire close to wiping out the deficit.

Big appeal! Ryan McLaren pads up to the penultimate ball of the over and all of the Somerset players go up for lbw. The umpire takes a while but says no. First slip has his hand over his mouth. He thought it was out.

    Drama.

  2. 'Grumpy', 'stubborn', 'always late' - Root v Andersonpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 14 September 2017

England team-mates Joe Root and James Anderson give BBC Sport the lowdown on each other.

  3. Essex on the brinkpublished at 16:33 British Summer Time 14 September 2017

Essex beat Warwickshire by an innings and 56 runs

Essex are still waiting to be mathematically confirmed champions.

They are still the only team unbeaten in this year's County Championship after thrashing Warwickshire earlier.

Simon Harmer once again starred, finishing with four wickets in the second innings. Watch them all below.

  4. Leicestershire look to rebuildpublished at 16:33 British Summer Time 14 September 2017

    Leicestershire 404 & 33-4 (12 overs) v Worcestershire 493

After the shock of finding themselves 10-4, Aadil Ali and first-innings centurion Neil Dexter have calmed things down a little for Leicestershire. They are 56 behind after bowling out Worcestershire for 493, with Callum Parkinson claiming 8-148.

  5. Play under way at Uxbridgepublished at 16:28 British Summer Time 14 September 2017

    Middlesex 85-3 (34 overs) v Hampshire

Finally, we have play between Middlesex and Hampshire where Max Holden and Adam Voges are the not out batsmen for the home side. If they manage to pick up four batting points in what's left of this game, Warwickshire are - in the words of Dad's Army's Private Fraser - well and truly doomed.

  6. Livingstone closes on half-centurypublished at 16:27 British Summer Time 14 September 2017

    Lancashire 133 & 190-5 f/o (89 overs) v Somerset 335

You'd think a lot of the Lancashire scoring will have to be done by Liam Livingstone if the Red Rose county are to set Somerset any sort of fourth-innings total.

The number three is still there on 42 not out and is joined by Ryan McLaren.

How many will Somerset be confident of chasing on this spinning track?

Following on Lancashire trail by 12.

  7. Division Two round-uppublished at 16:25 British Summer Time 14 September 2017

Glamorgan's Chris Cooke has gone for 69 at Cardiff, caught behind off Simon Kerrigan, and they are 255-7 against Northamptonshire, 152 runs ahead.

Darren Stevens has hit a six off Liam Norwell to reach a 40-ball fifty for Kent against Gloucestershire at Bristol. They are 363-8 and only 22 behind the home side's first-innings total.

The players are off the field because of rain at Hove where Derbyshire are 242-5, leading by 309, with Harvey Hosein 49 not out and Harry Podmore on 23.

  8. No champagne yet for Essexpublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 14 September 2017

Essex beat Warwickshire by an innings and 56 runs

It's beer not champagne so far for Essex but they'll be celebrating every Somerset wicket.

They still need Lancashire to lose or draw against Somerset until the corks can be popped.

    Lancashire 133 & 189-5 f/o (86 overs) v Somerset 335

    Overton gets his revenge!

Big celebrations from the big fast bowler as he gets one to nip back into Dane Vilas. The appeal could be for lbw or caught behind but the umpire raises the finger and the word is it was for the inside edge off the high pad which went through to Davies.

Lancashire have five wickets left and still trail by 13.

  11. Pressure building on Somerset?published at 16:13 British Summer Time 14 September 2017

    Lancashire 133 & 188-4 f/o (86 overs) v Somerset 335

    Signs of frustration for Somerset?

Their bowler Craig Overton takes a big kick at the turf with his big size 12s after serving up a leg stump half volley to Dane Vilas.

It allows Lancashire to reduce their deficit further.

A single to Liam Livingstone and Lancashire are just 14 behind with six wickets left.

Surrey's bowlers have had two sessions in the field today - what will Gareth Batty decide to do if they pick up the last Yorkshire wicket quickly? Jack Brooks becomes Sam Curran's second victim as he edges to the keeper, bringing last man Ryan Sidebottom to the crease.

  14. new ball

Evening session beginspublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 14 September 2017

    Lancashire 133 & 175-4 f/o (83 overs) v Somerset 335

They're back out after tea at Taunton.

Lancashire need 27 runs to force Somerset to bat again but if they lose their remaining six wickets before scoring those runs then Somerset will secure a massive win and Essex will be confirmed as champions.

Interestingly the hosts have taken the new ball.

  16. 50 runs

for Andy Hoddpublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 14 September 2017

    Surrey 592 v Yorkshire 392-8 (120 overs)

Andy Hodd reaches a 122-ball half-century with three runs off Gareth Batty and celebrates with a boundary in the next over, bowled by Sam Curran. Yorkshire are now 200 behind as they look to fend off the threat of following on.

  17. Derbyshire 'may consider declaration'published at 15:59 British Summer Time 14 September 2017

    Derbyshire 338 & 235-5 v Sussex 271

    Adrian Harms
    Sports reporter, BBC Sussex

Sussex's slim chances of promotion have taken a severe jolt today but at least the high standard of tea at Hove remains.

Credit to Derbyshire who have outplayed Sussex throughout the match and have reached the interval with a very useful lead of 302.

Derbyshire may even consider a declaration later this evening with an indifferent forecast for tomorrow to allow time to win this match

Matt Critchley Ben Slater and Harvey Hosein have all passed 40 all showed terrific application, particularly with skipper Billy Godleman unable to bat because of a broken hand.

  18. Still work to do for Somersetpublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 14 September 2017

    Lancashire 133 & 175-4 f/o (83 overs) v Somerset 335

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

Lancashire's resistance should at least see Somerset bat again and it could result in the home side having a tricky run chase on the final day as they go in search of a win which would have ramifications both top of bottom of Division One.

The pitch is doing just enough to keep spinners Jack Leach and Dom Bess at the forefront of the game. They've taken all four wickets today, a partnership which has yielded 89 wickets between them from nine games.

With rain around today and further potential disruption tomorrow the home side know this game is far from won.

  19. Northants 'still favourites' in Cardiffpublished at 15:49 British Summer Time 14 September 2017

    Glamorgan 207 & 240-6 v Northamptonshire 310

    Nick Webb
    BBC Wales Sport

Glamorgan stretched their lead to 137 by tea but with only the bowlers to come after the current partnership of Chris Cooke, on 67 not out, and Craig Meschede.

Cooke's stand of 71 with Andrew Salter put Glamorgan back in with an outside chance, before Northants spinner Rob Keogh bowled Salter for 19 with his first ball of the day.

Earlier, Mohammad Azharullah bowled Kiran Carlson for 44 and Colin Ingram for 25 either side of lunch, both off the inside edge as batsmen struggled to time the ball on a slow wicket.

Northants are still favourites to win this game, but Worcestershire's good progress against Leicestershire may slash or even end their promotion chances.
