Simon Harmer has a second fifty of the match for county champions Essex, although Ryan ten Doeschate (57) is now out.

The lead is 427 - Essex are going to go a whole season unbeaten barring a miraculous chase by Yorkshire.

  2. wicket

    WICKET Hannon-Dalby (b Edwards) 9published at 13:53 British Summer Time 27 September 2017

    Warwickshire 188 & 127-9 v Hampshire 116

Fidel Edwards gets the ball through Oliver Hannon-Dalby's defences and bowls him.

Warwickshire's lead is currently 199, with Ian Bell still there unbeaten on 31.

  3. Postpublished at 13:53 British Summer Time 27 September 2017

    Worcestershire 335 & 46-1 v Durham 208

Worcesteshire are building a very hand lead over Durham in their bid to seal the Division Two title.

Daryl Mitchell (21*) and Tom Fell (17*) are looking relatively untroubled with the advantage now standing at 173.

Worcestershire secured their promotion this morning once Northants were out for 202.

    Leicestershire 128 & 127-3 v Northants 202

Northants' chances of promotion are slipping away.

Leicestershire's lead is up to 53, although they will be boosted by that wicket of Chris Read at Hove.

It could still go either way, but I'd fancy Notts as favourites right now.

The rain arrives right on cue.

The players scurry off. If the forecast is correct, that could be it for the day.

    Commentator's curse!

Chris Read departs as he is caught on the deep mid-wicket boundary by Phil Salt off Jofra Archer.

The Nottinghamshire captain heads off to a standing ovation, having shared a 242-run sixth-wicket partnership with Billy Root (114 not out).

    Sussex 565 v Nottinghamshire 307-5

Chris Read (124 not out) is batting Nottinghamshire to promotion at Hove.

The visitors need only draw their match against Sussex to return to Division One next season.

What a way to go out for the 39-year-old wicketkeeper in his final first-class match.

WICKET Wright (run out) 11published at 13:39 British Summer Time 27 September 2017

    Warwickshire 188 & 114-8 v Hampshire 116

    They heard me!

Chris Wright is inexplicably run out by George Bailey as Ian Bell pushes for a single.

Oliver Hannon-Dalby hits his first ball for four, how many more runs can Hampshire afford to allow the final two batsmen make?

  9. Postpublished at 13:38 British Summer Time 27 September 2017

    Lancashire 268 v Surrey 201-8 dec & 222-7

Gareth Batty could be the perfect partner for Kumar Sangakkara.

The Surrey skipper pulls Stephen Parry over the rope for a maximum and is already up to 22.

Sanga is ticking along nicely on 28 in his final innings.

  10. Postpublished at 13:36 British Summer Time 27 September 2017

    Warwickshire 188 & 114-7 v Hampshire 116

The Hampshire camp will undeniably be keeping across goings on at Taunton.

Their task is getting harder with every extra run Warwickshire make as the hosts' lead goes to 186 now.

Jack Leach ROARS in celebration! Nick Compton is gone.

The Somerset spinner fires one in on the Middlesex opener's pads and he's given out.

Somerset need eight more wickets for survival - Middlesex require another 318 runs to ensure their safety.

... Chris Wright just keeps out Kyle Abbott.

Warwickshire's lead is 167 and you would think Hampshire will think they can chase anything below 200.

They're back out at Taunton after lunch, but I'm not sure for how long.

There's a HUGE mass of rain heading in from the west.

Nick Compton and Stevie Eskinazi are the Middlesex batsmen, Roelof van der Merwe has the ball in his hand.

  19. 'Sun out - Glamorgan favourites'published at 13:13 British Summer Time 27 September 2017

    Kent 302 & 115 v Glamorgan 229 and 50-0 - lunch

    Nick Webb
    BBC Wales Sport

Glamorgan have made a good start chasing a moderate target of 189 with young openers Nick Selman and Connor Brown putting together a 50 partnership, though Brown was dropped at slip on 15 off Callum Haggett.

With the sun out, they look favourites to record a third win of the season.

Glamorgan captain Michael Hogan, who reached 500 first-class wickets last night, followed up with two more this morning.

That gave him career-best match figures of 10-87 and fifty Championship wickets for the season, while Lukas Carey snapped up two as Kent were bundled out for 115.
