  2. Aus 283-6published at 05:25 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2017

    Lead by 3

A good crowd in at the North Sydney Oval - let's hope they're passing the sun cream around, or a few of the fans on the "Doug Walters Hill" may soon be as pink as the shirts they're wearing in support of the McGrath Foundation today. McGrath dabs Elwiss for a single.

England have bowled a lot more full tosses today - Healy and Perry have punished the poor deliveries.

  4. Aus 282-6published at 05:22 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2017

    Perry 124 (261 balls)

Perry drives Marsh for four wide of mid-off, to wipe out England's lead and ensure Australia will hold a first-innings advantage.

  5. dropped catch

    Aus 278-6

Australia six down - it should be seven as McGrath hits her first ball (from the recalled Georgia Elwiss) to short extra cover - and it's put down by the captain Heather Knight. How painful for England.

Nearly a golden duck on her Test debut for McGrath, who recovers to guide medium-pacer Elwiss for four wide of mid-on. How big a miss might that be for England?

Perry has added the sweep shot to her game, but she won't sweep on length - she sweeps on line.

Tahlia McGrath is the new batter for Australia - she looks on as Perry gets down on one knee and sweeps Marsh for four.

Healy's played a really good hand here, she was the one which got the partnership going, but she didn't time this one, trying to go over mid-on and Shrubsole took the catch comfortably.

  9. wicket

    Healy c Shrubsole b Marsh 45 (Aus 270-6)

Finally England have a breakthrough - Healy dances down the track to Marsh, trying to hit the off-spinner over the top, but doesn't get hold of it as she'd hoped, and Anya Shrubsole takes a good diving catch running back at mid-on.

It might be an option for England to get Georgia Elwiss on. She only bowled five overs yesterday, and told me that her role was to hold an end.

  11. Aus 269-5published at 05:11 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2017

    Perry 115, Healy 45

Great shot from Perry - she rocks back, rolls the wrists and guides Sciver for four through backward point. That's the century stand. A single means England's lead has shrunk to 11. Sciver then yells an appeal as Healy is rapped on the pad... it's not a bad shout but umpire Joshua doesn't agree. It was fine for height - might that have hit middle and leg?

England haven't managed to exert the pressure today, they've been bowling one bad ball an over.

  13. Aus 264-5published at 05:06 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2017

Marsh goes round the wicket - it's about 25 minutes until the tea interval (05:30 GMT), which at least will be a chance for England to regroup and rethink their plans. Maiden over.

An hour and a half into the session, and it's been all Australia. Perry and Healy were jumping on anything loose, they've timed the ball impeccably and also found the boundary.

Daggers and Isa on TMS both think England need one of their bowlers to say "give me the ball, I'll make something happen" - and agree that person is Anya Shrubsole. But it's Nat Sciver for now - and the Aussie sixth-wicket pair are taking singles at will, chipping away at England's lead which is running out as each over goes by.

Aus 260-5published at 05:01 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2017

    Perry 108, Healy 43

England have a short mid-off and short mid-on in place, either side of the wicket, as Marsh continues - and after a single from Perry, Healy carefully launches her second six of the day with a chip over mid-wicket.

The one player who could have had more of an influence this morning was Anya Shrubsole. Perry was playing her nicely outside off stump, I think she should have stuck to her lines against Healy and had people in the right positions. It didn't feel like there was much clarity in England's plans when you compare it to, say, Megan Schutt. You knew exactly what Australia were doing when Schutt was bowling.

Single from Perry. I wish I could be more optimistic for England here.

Marsh is still mostly keeping the Aussies bottled up, but Healy finds the gap through the covers - did the ball cross the rope before the diving fielder flicked it back? Yes - that's four. Australia earn some applause as they pass 250.
