Chris White: This is excruciating listening. Nearly crashed my tractor off the back of all these reviews.

If Australia get a tasty lbw appeal turned down soon, I fear Steve Smith might implode. That Malan shout just looked too high, though - he was almost on tiptoes and Smith, standing at slip, should have been able to see that. Hazlewood goes for a yorker into Malan's toes, and he turns in away towards a tumbling fielder. A highly eventful maiden.

Steve Smith has thrown his head back. He can't believe it.

  4. Not outpublished at 09:30 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2017

That is indeed going over! That's not out, and Steve Smith has burnt his reviews in three deliveries. He looks a tad miffed.

It has struck him above the knee roll. That should be going over.

It's beaten Malan's bat and hit him on the knee roll. Malan's front foot is slightly off the ground...

We're going upstairs again - Josh Hazlewood is convinced he's got Dawid Malan out lbw...

That was amazing. You heard everyone stop their burbling and put down their drinks. You could have heard a pin drop.

Australia have lost one of their reviews, while England have both of theirs intact. And Nathan Lyon is out of the attack for a while - here's Josh Hazlewood.

Not out! There's no inside edge and it's rising over the stumps. It was an almighty final ball from Cummins, though.

I don't think it clipped the inside edge. It looks like there's a spot on the thigh pad.

It was a vicious delivery from Cummins, angling in and cutting Root in half, but Root doesn't look fussed. Has he got a nick on it?

Australia are very, very confident with this.

Dawid Malan's not having much fun. He can't get Pat Cummins away. Cummins is ramping up the pressure, bowling dot after dot, before getting the odd short ball to rise on him. Malan drops his hands and lets the ball go through to Paine, before finally working a single off his pads. Root then whips out his football skills to keep the ball off his stumps. He presses forward, plays the ball down and then twists to back heel the ball away from his stumps.

Seven decisions that have been overturned in this Test. The record is 11, which happened during the Test between Bangladesh and England in Chittagong last year.

Shot! Joe Root sweeps, and sweeps nicely, to pick up four off Nathan Lyon. The fielder on the boundary ends up face first in the ground as he dives to save it. Lyon then tempts Root, getting a delivery to drift in to Root, trying to draw the drive out of the England captain as he brings him across the crease Root inside edges the first one on to his pads before knocking away the rest of the over.

Sat in my University library listening to TMS whilst ‘doing work'. A lad near me threw his pad on the floor after that Vince dismissal. He's now pacing round the room and gave a whispered cry of “get in” after that ball went over the top on Root's review!
