It's almost as if Steve Smith is sitting back and saying, 'I'm quite enjoying watching this'.

He has put on a magnificent display of batting today.

Chris Woakes bowls, short, Mitch Marsh fends it off and that's his 150! He hadn't scored a ton before today, now another landmark.
To be honest he'll probably be annoyed if he doesn't get 200. His brother must be fuming - the only man out all day to a nothing shot to a nothing ball...
Maths and stuff
Peter Collins: At the current rate of wicket taking throughout the series, England take a wicket every 16.19 overs.
It would take us 323 overs to take 20 wickets. If we disregard the second innings at Adelaide, that rises to 418.18 overs. You can't win a game like that.

You know we all talked about "scoreboard pressure"? It's coming. Australia talked about "retiring some players". Guess they were talking about Broad and Anderson.

Who predicted Mitch Marsh being 138* off 180 balls and that not being the story of the day?
Marsh picks up another three off Moeen Ali, who is now 1-83. Credit to Craig Overton who put in a fine effort to claw it back.
No - in a moment which rather sums up the day, they give a four after a review.
Smith 203, M Marsh 138
Is this a chance?! The first false shot in about eight hours as Mitch Marsh top edges a pull off Chris Woakes, but it drops well short of Craig Overton in the deep.
That's as exciting as it's got for England for a long, long time. That Brian Lara record of 400 is just ludicrous really isn't it - Steve Smith stared batting at 06:40 GMT on Friday morning and he's only halfway to that milestone!

It's just like watching someone have a net.

Tim Paine has been padded up for 55 overs. Poor bloke.
Moeen Ali gets through another over - there are 22 overs left of the day's play. My goodness me.

In comes Chris Woakes, trundling in and carted away for four by Mitch Marsh, who is having the sort of knock which regenerates a career.
Nathan Lyon spoke before the tour of ending a few careers, he may be spot on. There are some tired legs and minds in this England team.

Woakes will bowl at any time, any place and anywhere. But it's not ideal at the moment.

Mithun: What a sensational knock by Steve Smith, made the bowling attack look very mediocre. Has to be best Test player currently.
Daniel Oxley: Steve Smith is batting in an age of no real world class bowlers, so I wouldn't class him as one of the greats at all.
Smith 202, M Marsh 130
Joe Root screams some encouragement to Moeen Ali. I know Graeme Swann has been criticising the lack of positivity in the England field today but it's a good job I'm not out there.
England have taken one wicket all day and had maybe three or four deliveries which have concerned Steve Smith all day.
Time is the only barrier to the Aussie scorecard. They could get as many runs as they want.
Graeme Swann
Ex-England spinner on BBC Radio 5 live
The England bowlers haven't been that bad. Australia at the same point had England 380-4, they looked innocuous as well. Bairstow and Malan were batting beautifully, making it look easy. But Australia knew that they were one or two wickets away from rolling England over because of a weak tail. You could see it in their body language.
We are all surprised by the collapse of England but the Australian players and crowd weren't.

Well I picked the wrong day to finally get wicket alerts on my phone!

The Australian TV channels have been showing highlights of Brian Lara's record individual score of 400 all afternoon in readiness for Steve Smith maybe taking it on.
How's that for confidence? Mitch Marsh is set for 200 first. He clobbers Joe Root to the fence, merciless stuff.
