Another meeting of minds in the middle. Steve Smith wants to get on with it, Joe Root points out areas of concern, Chris Gaffaney leans down and pats an area of the wicket.
Still damp? Seems so.
There are 11 people standing on the pitch at the moment, this can't be doing it much good at all.
Nathan Lyon will be loving this.

Steve Smith looks like the third umpire, he's walking so closely next to them. He's like a lion, stalking them. He's got a ball in his hand.

Umpires on the way, followed by Steve Smith.
Play hasn't started, obviously.
If you're rejoining us for the scheduled restart we are back where we were a few hours ago as a group of men huddle on the pitch armed with leaf blowers.

The Waca, by the way, doesn't allow spectators to bring umbrellas into the ground (or, at least brollies that can't be hidden). They don't expect rain in these parts.
I'm now looking at pictures of the two umpires and two captains having a chat but I think this was a bit earlier on.
The pitch is covered up again - I'm guessing we're not going to start at 04:40.
The groundstaff with the blowers have moved up the pitch (down?) and are now hoovering up short of a length.
Joe Root looks far from pleased still as the covers come back on. Is that more rain? It's very windy out there, I can tell you that much.
More speculation over the state of the pitch...

Everyone is huddled up out in the middle in very close proximity with each other.

Marcus Copsey: Can't wait for the first ball to be put on the damp spot length and not bounce at all. Match abandoned
Play is due to start in 10 minutes' time. You get the kettle on and make a brew and we'll get Dawid Malan and Jonny Bairstow out into the middle.
England will resume play 127 runs behind...
The guy who told Adam that about the angle of rain must work for Network Rail!
The wrong sort of rain...

I was speaking to Jim Maxwell about why Australia don't use the hover covers that they use in England. Believe it or not, the rain falls more differently in Australia. It falls in angular patterns. It's to do with the way the wind blows.
When Colin from accounts books Monday off work, he really commits.

Joe Root's out there in his cap and hoodie, as if to say "there's no way we can play in this".
It's raining again!
