So, there you have it. The Ashes urn is back down under after Australia went 3-0 up in the five-match series.

When we go away we need to look at upping our standards and not waiting until we get back home. I'm not comfortable with that.

You know you have a good team when they can win at home and away.

England go to India in a couple of years' time and they will get hammered over there. We'll all say 'where are our spinners?' Why isn't our game producing spinners?'

When we get hammered in Australia we say 'where are our fast bowlers?'

We go back to England and we trounce everyone at home because we are used to the ball and used to the conditions. Cracks get papered over when we are in England. All teams are like this - great at home and rubbish away.

Another player who has been found wanting down under is Moeen Ali. He was supposed to be the beard to be feared but he was out for 11 at the Waca as he fell victim to Nathan Lyon for the fifth time in six innings in this series.

Stuart Broad is coming in for a lot of stick. His 0-142 bowling figures in this Test were the worst of his career and his effort with the bat today left a lot to be desired. He lasted just two balls and was out for the same number of wickets he took - zero - after being caught by Tim Paine off Pat Cummins.

There were two things with Ben Stokes missing. It affects the balance of the team but secondly the media that surrounded him has put pressure on England. It has created this frenzy.

I don't think that they have been able to concentrate as well as knowing that they are missing that person.

I think England owe it to the fans to try to bounce back.

Nick Powell: What is the most frustrating thing, is that Root and Bayliss fail to acknowledge how poor the performance was. They all say 'we played some good cricket' but any team that loses by an innings after being 368-4 should hang their heads in shame.

Let's be really clear about this. My colleague Simon Mann has said that England lost the Ashes on 25 September when Ben Stokes was involved in an incident that took him out of the side.

Stokes, because he comes in at number six and he's an extra seamer, has insured that the balance of the England side has been heavily weighted to their lower middle order. The result has been they have scored more runs than any other country in world cricket after the loss of the fifth wicket.

When everything gets shunted up one and when you'r facing the fastest bowling attack that has been recorded in the last 11 years, these are very unusual circumstances.

Mitchell Marsh's first innings score of 181 in the third Test was more than England's Joe Root (176) or Alastair Cook (83) have managed in six outings during the series so far.

It's not good news for England fans as Australia have regained the Ashes.

• England were 132-4 (127 runs behind) going into day five but received hope of saving the Test when there was a three-hour delay because of some leaking covers and damp patches on the pitch.
• When play resumed Jonny Bairstow (14) was quickly bowled by Josh Hazlewood and Moeen Ali (11) was trapped LBW by Nathan Lyon.
• Dawid Malan (54) was caught off Hazlewood before Craig Overton (12) and Stuart Broad (0) follow him back to the pavilion.
• Chris Woakes (22) was the last wicket to fall as England were all out for 218 to lose the Ashes.

Alastair Cook's top score in six innings in this Ashes series is 37. It is the only time the England opener has passed 20 en route to a series average of 13.83.

I'm proud of the way some of the guys have played. Dawid Malan was sensational, James Vince was only dismissed by the best ball I've ever seen in a game. There are positives, I expected to be 3-0 down after three games once Stokes wasn't coming.

If you look at the three top run scorers so far, there's Steve Smith who is way ahead and then it is Dawid Malan followed by Jonny Bairstow.

Malan has already cemented that number five spot for a little while going forward.

Some of our bigger issues are that we lost 6-35 in this Test. Throughout this series we have been blown away. I do worry about Alastair Cook struggling but also from the middle order and down we've got nothing that can stand up.

Gill Rowland‏: Whilst I'm sad we have lost the Ashes and congratulate Australia on their win, I prefer to be a cup half full person - some great batting on which we can build for the future.

England do have a settled side if Ben Stokes is around but when he's not, this team came over very weak.

The senior guys who you expect to stand up and outshine the rookie have done the exact opposite. Joe Root and Alastair Cook have done next to nothing. The shining lights have been Rocky Stoneman and Dawid Malan.

I wonder what Ben Stokes is thinking...
