I can't remember three drag-ons in the same Test. If this pitch stays the same, we may see a few more.

Jimmy Anderson is celebrating now and it is a third drag-on of the morning. Maybe too short to pull but it just shows how little pace is in this pitch. Tim Paine gets an under-edge and the ball whacks into leg stump.

13 minutes until lunch. Can England get a few more?

Jimmy Anderson bowling once more. Last night, in the press conference, I reminded him that England had lost eight in a row here in Australia, he'd spent an age in the field in Perth and did another day yesterday. He said I was unfestive. Being accused of being grumpy by Jimmy Anderson is a low point...

Stuart Broad has had 20 decisions reviewed in Test cricket and had four of them overturned. Which isn't too far off the average percentage.

Rangana Herath has had the most successful reviews in Test cricket, with nine.

    Broad 25-8-48-2

Ooooooooh. What's gone on there? Back of a length from Broad and somehow the ball misses bat, pad and off stump and goes through to Jonny Bairstow who ends up on his backside.

Broad shrugs in frustration. Cummins just stares at the pitch as if it had shouted an insult in his direction.

A maiden from Broad. Whisper it quietly but I think Broady's back.

Stuart Broad has bowled slightly better lengths - a bit fuller - and he's clearly revved up here. It was a good move going back over the wicket and that brought him that dismissal.

  7. Aus 318-6published at 111 overs

    Paine 24, Cummins 0

    Dismissive from Tim Paine.

Jimmy Anderson returns to the attack and Paine pulls a short delivery to the mid-wicket fence on the first ball of the over, showing no respect for a man with 519 Test wickets.

Better from Anderson to finish. He keeps Paine at that end. The rejuvenated Broad will get a first bowl at Pat Cummins.

That was a brilliant over from Stuart Broad. Today he's come over the wicket to the left-hander and produced a terrific, probing over.

I don't think the team were too supportive of the shout at first but Broad was 100% sure.

Ben Thapa: Broad bowled to a plan and got a reward. Great stuff. Not happened nearly enough in this series.

Greg: DRS should be used to overturn a howler from an umpire....and that was a howler from the umpire. How did he think that was missing?!

Alex Thomas: Don’t say this very often, but that’s a crackin’ review from Broady! Great effort so far this morning...

  10. Aus 314-6published at 110 overs

A big half hour before lunch now. Pat Cummins is the new man.

He is batting a place higher due to the absence of Mitchell Starc with Jackson Bird due to come in at number 11. The Aussie tail has been lengthened a little by that change.

    S Marsh lbw Broad 61 (Aus 314-6)

Got him! Three reds. That's out!

An excellent review from England. That pitched on leg stump, nipped back a little and was going to clatter into off stump.

Brilliant from Broad. Five dots, all of the deliveries on the money, preceded that final delivery.

An excellent over from Stuart Broad ends with him hitting Shaun Marsh on the pads.

Big appeal from the bowler but the umpire shakes his head.

    I think this is close.

You're getting your wish people. Moeen Ali has been banished from the attack. Stuart Broad replaces him.

Chris Ingram: So you've got a tad lucky, got the form guys out and are back in it. Do you bowl a) a bowler with 500+ wkts and your top wicket-taker in the series or b) a man averaging over 100...

Tom: Nice of Root to give the Aussies a rest and throw Moeen the ball - we were getting dangerously close to competing for a minute.

  15. Aus 314-5published at 109 overs

    Run rate 2.88

Those boundaries in Moeen's previous over brought up the Aussie 300 and now Tom Curran, playing in his first Test, has to try and stem the flow of runs as well as look for a breakthrough.

Ah. That's lovely. One of the shots of the match from Tim Paine. Too full from Curran and Paine threads the ball through the off-side ring field. He looks really good. This partnership is worth 36 already.

Tom Curran runs his hands through his hair ruefully. His floppy-topped do makes him look like a Peaky Blinder as a few of you have pointed out.

That's really good batting from Shaun Marsh. Moeen Ali closed off the gap by moving the field so Marsh couldn't get a single, but he moved his feet to punch it down the ground for four.

    Moeen 12-0-57-0

Hmmmmm. I don't get this at all.

Moeen starts his latest over full and wide and Tim Paine cracks the ball through extra cover to the boundary despite the best efforts of the extra cover fielder.

Now Marsh takes the attack to Moeen. A little skip and the batsman meets another over-pitched delivery on the full and it whistles down the ground for four. Nine from the over. Time for a change.

  18. Aus 299-5published at 107 overs

    S Marsh 56, Paine 10

Tom Curran is back now looking for his second Test wicket as he replaces Chris Woakes. Like yesterday Curran is mixing his pace with that back-of-the-hand slower ball. This latest one is really slow and loopy, down below 70mph.

And another! That was a good one, really loopy, and seemed to have deceived Marsh but sadly for Curran it was too leg side. The bowler puts his hands on his head in frustration.

  19. Aus 298-5published at 106 overs

The ball is not spinning for Moeen. There hasn't been much for the seamers but even less for the off-spinner. Marsh is happy to use his feet as he knows the ball isn't going to spin past his outside edge to leave him stranded.
