Lengthy conversation between captain Joe Root and Stuart Broad as drinks end.
Broad then wanders over to have a word with Tom Curran, who will continue from the Bradman & Noble Stand End.

It's been Australia's hour since lunch, but it hasn't always been pretty.

You can now see the browner patches on the pitch.

Joe Root, wheeling in with his round, low arm, sends down six balls of nagging accuracy and Usman Khawaja can only defend.
That's a maiden and that's also time for drinks on this baking afternoon in Sydney.

England bowling on another flat Australian wicket... perfect to fall asleep to.
Charlie, Dorset
These wickets on this tour have been appalling for Test cricket as a spectacle. There is absolutely nothing in it for bowlers. Drab, boring, batting marathons with no excitement. A terrible advert for the game.
Graham, Yorkshire
Tom Curran hangs a very wide delivery up there and Shaun Marsh wafts at it, just about missing the edge. Well, Curran did get Smith out at Melbourne with a short, wide on so why not?
A thickish inside edge flies square and Marsh jogs a couple.
Right, that's that for double spin for a while at least.
Here comes Tom Curran into the attack...
Khawaja 154, S Marsh 19
Khawaja can't work Root away until the final ball and then only does so streakily.
The number three goes to sweep, gets a feathery edge and it runs through Bairstow's legs and away for three. Was that a chance?

This is the second time Usman Khawaja has reached 150 in Tests. He got there from 334 balls in 429 minutes, with 16 fours and one six.
Hmm, first real loose over from Moeen since lunch and it's been punished by the Australian pair.
After those two fours, Khawaja knocks one to get off strike and Marsh then sweeps powerfully to the fence.
Expensive over - 13 runs off it. And these two have now put on 39.
Vic Marks
Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special
Quite a dismissive way to get to 150 from Khawaja. He is a beautiful player to watch. He has a few aberrations along the way but he's a very silky player.
Aus 308-3
Moeen offers a bit of width, Khawaja retreats far enough to slice a cut stroke backward of point and to the fence.
Khawaja then comes down the pitch and lofts it up over wide mid-on for back-to-back boundaries.
And that's the 150 for Usman Khawaja. A tremendous effort. After a nervy start yesterday, it's been a lovely innings to watch.

Ed: That’s 156 overs (and three balls) worth of no-balls!

Bob Willis is the world record holder for bowling no-balls: he bowled 939 in Test cricket.
Root wheels round the wicket to Marsh, who shows the maker's name to the first few.
A more expansive shot off the last but Marsh picks out Alastair Cook at cover. Another maiden.

Imtiaaz: Lots of spin at the SCG, Steve Smith to take 5 wickets in the England second innings, heard it here first...
Moeen tightens up and no other run is possible off the over.
Trail by 46
Shaun Marsh flicks Moeen through mid-on for one and that's the 300 up for Australia.
They trail England by just 46 with seven wickets remaining.
It's been typed and said so often during this series, but England really, really need a couple of quick wickets if they don't want to conceded a sizable first-innings lead.
Khawaja 142, S Marsh 14
Root round-arms it too straight and Marsh can flick a couple off his pads.
Marsh then cover drives for an easy single.
Tidy enough from Root to start.
